Here's the plan, in the next 2 months I'll be changing to an aftermarket ecu. Then I'll be on the market for a new turbo. I want 350hp @ wheels, I'd like full boost around 3500. What turbo do you think I should go for? I'll upgrade the fuel pump and put in a nismo fuel regulator if necesary, but I'd like to run on stock internals for sometime, so I need to keep the boost lowish, thinking around 1.2bar max. Most people have been saying the garrett GT30 with an external wastegate. Whats your thoughts?

Muchly appreciated ;)

Clutch is already done, I'm running a 9 puck unit with a 2500pound pressure plate, same unit most of the guys over here in WA use cos we all go to the same guy... Ross @ Perth AutoClutch :) The ecu I go for will run a 3bar map sensor so I dont need a AFM. I have an EBC, as per my signature. I figured the fuel pump would need doing and I might see if a fuel regulator might keep me from buying injectors... but we'll see what happens... how much is the HKS 2835? Isnt the manifold's flange a T28? which means t25 and t3 turbo's only bolt up with an adaptor plate? or so I thought.

the new 2835 pro s has a t3 flange!

i am spending a little more than normal do i dont just end up with a dyno queen thats a pig to drive on the road. I am getting lightened flywheel cam gears etc as well so it will accelerate better rather than just have peak power which is useless of the street unless u r driving on the autobarns in germany. :D

also u will need 550cc min injectors and a 044 bosch fuel pump or u will have problems of pining and other issues like alot of people on here have!

if you want full boost by around 3500 then youll need something smaller than the 2835... as mentioned if you want 350rwhp, full boost by 3500 is a bit optimistic.

im getting a HKS GT2530, for a comfortable 310rwhp (~230rwkw at 1.1bar) i dont see why it wouldnt do 240kw, with more boost (as its been done on a stock RB20 with same turbo)

while the peak power is a bit short of what your looking for, i hear the response and midrange make for a killer street car. Also you can get a decent one 2nd hand from about 1800$ and will bolt straight up. With a RRregulator you can use standard injectors and your internals will easily hold out.

you 'should' be able to make 260rwkw on a 2540 with a real squeeze.

2540 is a shit turbo and would need lots of boost to get 260rwkw.

with the 2530 u will need around 1.3-1.4 bar to get 230rwkw assuming the rest of your system is efficient!

So there crap then.. The 2540's get slightly more power at the same boost levels than the 2530 though.

Still 1.3-1.4bar is a hell of a lot of boost in my book.

How is it that Whatsisnames turbo made 240-257rwkw on 13psi??? And thats a custom turbo.. Makes full boost at 3500-4000rpm and is plain bearing.

On a RB20DET the GT2530 with the right support good FMIC exhaust etc will make 220rwkw on 17psi of boost.

I'm starting to think that aftermarket brand name isn't always better.

2540's will give the higher peak, but for street its all about average power... A slightly lower peak but with a fat midrange is far superior to a laggier peakier turbo. This has been well covered in HPI. And its been shown that a 2530 will be quicker than a 2540 on street.

INASNT, the 2530 will only need 1.1 bar for 230kw on an RB25, as im told SYDNEYKID has seen. And who are we to argue with him? :O

Joel, as far as the brand name not being better, I would tend to agree, but its been written so many times in HPI from experience, that the HKS stuff does its job EXTREMELY well, and people who have gone the cheaper garret stuff are usually dissappointed when shooting for HKS numbers and response. Thats according to M.Donnon's personal experiences....
