Well it was perfect weather for racing, dry and cold.

Lots of slower traffic today as expected.

I didn't get my '49 but found another half a second for a PB of 1.51.26. The next second and a bit is going to be hard I don't know where it's going to come from.

You all missed an awesome day! :)

Cheers

Andrew

As a matter of fact, you are absolutely right. I WAS!!

I don't care if there were cars there older than me, I'll take it!

LOL...thats why im thinking about doing more MSCA days, i want trophies and since im in the same class as Snowman, Scotsman, Jack and Ferni etc...im no chance of doing any good in the WRX points system. Budge wont put me up against the other rwd 2L cars like Silvias :)

Budge?

What are you talking about?

It's been well publicised about my crusade for a 2WD and a 4WD class as 2 parts of the WRX Club Associate Class.

Unfortunately I don't make those decisions.

Stupid people do.

MY new tyres are mauled on the right hand side, especially the front

Yeah. P.I. will do that ! ! My mate with a Ducatt's 999s EATS the LHS of His rear tyre there, He's gotta save ex-P.I. tyres for Broadford, where it's nearly all RH. Turns.

Congrats on the '51 Andrew, I'm SO coming gunning for that time once I've got a fit ride, and a BIG rear wing to stop the high-speed oversteer I got at P.I. ! ! That'll be deep into brave-territory tho, sounds like You'll be eeeking more out of the black beast once you've got some clear track and plenty of brave pills ! :(

High-Five for the Fastest time, btw. :P

Wowsers, definitely taking the scatter-gun approach to lapping there ! !

I'm amazed that the green lap on that pic drops 3 tenths in sector 2 (southern Loop) with just that tiny drop in speed onto the straight.. . . a lil' moment, perhaps? ? :P

Well done Andrew, must feel good being the fastest car on the day!!!! :(

Alot of people (usually spectators) don't realise how hard it is to get that extra second at that level, your doing well, it will come...

Now for flat 20's at Sandown?!?! :P

Phillip Island seems to be a funny place for some people. I remember I did a 1.49.3 down there with stock turbo's and everything when I could only manage a best of 1.25's at Sandown. And it seemed I could get into the 49's lap after lap back then. Scotsman still hasn't managed a sub 1.50 either yet he's done a 1.21 at Sandown.

I don't know what it is that can make such a big difference at that place but something sure does.

Traffic. An old Schnitzer M3 was there and creating havoc. :D

I dont think there is any real secret to either place. You just have to be comfortable in the car and work up to a pace. I know if i just used 5th gear at turn 1 and at the Hayshed i would have got into the low 1:51s, possibly high 1:50s. I did the 1:52 flat and it was a long way from a smooth lap.

Sandown? Its all about getting on to the straights well and carrying what speed you can through turn 1 and up to Dandenong. I have done an about face about my car and think its better at PI then Sandown. My car is just too scary coming on to the straights and in the braking areas at Sandown...doesnt like the bumps at all. Phillip Island the suspension may give out before the tyres shoudl, but its predictable.

It still has 1-2 seconds in it at the Island as is. But i dont think the old 32 could do much better then a high 1:21. at Sandown. I will never know though as next time out i will have the new suspension in which will hopefully make it a little nicer to drive and allow me to use the correct gears without scaring myself.

I am committed to getting the RB20 GTSt into the 1:49s at PI and low 1:21s at Sandown. Past that im going to need more car. Which i cant see the sense in. It will just get too expensive and those times will be good enough for me to think im doing a good enough job behind the wheel of ol silver.

Either way, its all experience and good fun :)
