Hey, At the moment im researching on wheels for my car, I have a 1997 R33 GTS25.

I want a set of Nismo RAYS LMGT1's. Just because =p

Now there are several problems in this.

Because these are designed for a GTR and i have a GTS25, What will i need to do to get these rims on my car with no bodgey shortcuts or money saving techniques, I am only researching at the moment so money wont come into play untill later on...

From start to finish and every little detail included, What will i need to do to get these on my car?

Hope someone can help.

thanks

josh.

I'm not sure if I understand you correctly but you are saying that LMGT1s are only designed for GTRs? That is incorrect. If you have a GTST just source a set with the correct offsets to suit. If you find one with GTR offsets chances are you will need to pump your guards or roll ur lip to fit. I have a set of LMGT4s for sale if you are interested..GTST offsets :P

Oh right sorry, For some reason i was thinking they were for the GTR only, My car is a GTS25 non turbo, hopefully soon ill be looking to upgrade the brake's from the GTS to GTST setup, I wouldnt mind rolling the guards if i found wheels with GTR offset. As long as its guaranteed to work.

If ur after the LMGT1 specifically, then good luck...its hard finding 2nd hand ones let alone the correct offsets. Yahoo auctions in Japan are ur best bet, then when u find a set get a trader to import it in for you.

I have actually found someone at the moment selling a set for under $2k, Refurbished, but i do not have enough money at the moment...

doesn't really work tht way unfortunately...LM GT1s even though older and rarer is probably not as popular or sought after as the GT3s and 4s. I've seen LM GT1s go for bout 1.5k in 18s. 2nd hand sets on yahoo auctions normally go for around 50,000 to 60,000 yen...add freight and customs...u do the math. :P

I've got a set of LM GT3's on my '93 GTS-T, the inside of the rear guard has been rolled right back; but I'm keen on getting it flared soon. Additionally because they'll be running 275/35 18's, make sure that you roll the front guards too, or you'll have chunks out of your tyres on full lock (found that out the painful way). :)

EDIT:: Irrespective of that, you WILL get scrubbage on front tyres on full lock (corner of tyre hitting the plastic crap behind the tyres. Cut holes if ya gotta.)

I'm running D2 coilovers which are currently slammed hell hard though, so if you've got softer suspension, hopefully you can find a gtst offset, or flare those guards. :)

My suspension is factory for the GTS25 except for a set of NISMO struts which i think was a factory extra. It sits pretty high off the ground at the moment, About a foot :sorcerer:

First thing i need to do before anything is the brake upgrade, Ill have to drive around on steelies untill i get the gt1's i want :)

Im gonna go coil overs after i put the wheels on.

Damn some of these rims a fkn sweet!

I want a set of white ones in 18" not any smaller then that , I dont mind the white with chrome lip ones at all though :P

Ill keep my options open, The gt4's are steering away from what i want.. I dont really like the look of them, But each to their own they look hot on a 34 :(

ALSO how the hell do i make any sense of yahoo japan auctions?

i tried looking on there but i was lost hahah.

any way to view it in english or will i need someone that knows japanese keke

Can I sway your further? :)

The only difference between the 05 ver GT4s is the center cap and color...both are forged lightweight monobloc wheels.

Thank you for that.

Yes its working :P but they suite your car though. SECKS!

I Like the GT3's i wouldnt mind hunting down a set of them in GTST offset in 18", i need a GTST brake conversion though :(

Instead of creating another thread..

What will i need for a gts25 - GTST brake conversion and how much will it cost for parts ONLY as me and my dad can fit them.

so far ive researched that i need:

GTST Hubs

GTST calipers

GTST master cylinder

GTST Rotors

GTST discs

New brake lines?

And do all of these need to be off a GTST that has ABS? as my car has ABS...

Hopefully thats all i need as id like to get this done fairy soon as soon as i have the money.

let me know if i have left anything out!

    • I mean, if you were to move the jacking points away from the original location, that is, away from the wheels and closer to the centreline of the car, then it will be more likely to overbalance and tip off the supports. Same as we talked about before. I was talking about moving for-aft. If the sill is bent outward or inward, then the car would obviously look unstraight from the outside. Hopefully that hasn't happened either. Again, you can do comparative measurements from the chassis rails to see if there is much deflection.
    • Can you elaborate what you mean with your first sentence? I meant move as in the bulge kinda seemed like it got pulled "outward" meaning it got pulled down and to the side with the jacking rail itself, so the load bearing bulge now sits lower than usual and is not level with the sill on the other side of the jack point. Either that or the jacking rail just got pushed in a good bit.
    • As well as being risky WRT tipping off anyway. Yeah, I wouldn't expect it to move. Just measure from the rear one to the front one on the good side, then measure that same length on the wrecked side. You will find the notches in the pinchweld, and the jacking pad. Just spray a spot of marker paint or something there.
    • but any other area than the bulge you are talking about will just cave in then? The front driver side is pretty bent so I don't know if that will work the way it is now. I can still kinda make out where that bulge is/was but it looks like the position of it also changed due to all the mistreatment? Hard to tell
    • Absolutely. Look very closely at the photo (of yours) that I took my second snip of. See how the sill is thicker material right behind the pinchweld, where the two notches are? That is the factory reinforced area for lifting. That pad is supposed to carry the weight. The factory jack (go look at it, and how it interfaces with the car at the pinchweld) shows you exactly how the load is carried from the car to the jack to the ground.
