hey guys

as most of u know, in nsw we have p plate bans since 11 july 2005.

However, I am getting disqualifed from court soon, for speeding.

I am a current P plate holder, have had my license since 2004.

Will I still be able to drive Turbocharged & V8 powered vehicles?

The RTA website says :

Who will the prohibited vehicle condition apply to?

The prohibited vehicle condition applies to:

A re-issued P1 or P2 licence due to a disqualification for a driving offence that was committed on and after 11 July 2005.

Now, I'm pretty sure i fall under that, but alot of ppl have been telling me different.

When they say, re-issued, does that mean after like after being cancelled for good or what? anyone know the go?

Thanks Fellas :P

If you 'had' to go to court and lost your licence then no V8 or turbo for you. If you simply lose it due to points loss i beleive you will be fine, however if you were disqualified and went to court then your stuffed. Friend of mine lost his for dui special range (.01) on P2 and when he gets his licence back no v8 or turbo, also your p's will start again as told by police and the court. i.e the two years for P2 will have to be done all over again even if your licence was removed a week before you were to change to blacks. Very harsh if your in the same boat as my friend.

thats incorrect, when u get it back you can drive turbo/V8, only thuing is you will need to get your L's again hold those for 10days then do your P's again.

my mate got done DUI then got got caught driving without a licence, lost it fo0r 27 months and he has had to get his L's again and then go for his P's again but he has no restrictions

I would ask the RTA when the situation occurs. My friend lost his P plates in court also...similar situation. He wasn't required to return to L's or pass the driving test etc or anything but was required to lodge an exemption request for his two skylines.

He is now able to only drive his own cars (R31 & R32) which were given immediate exemption, but he is no longer able to drive mine for example.

Its quite possibly there is different rulings depending on the reason you lose your license in court. i.e DUI and speeding result in different processes.

if he lost it for 27 months and is on p's again now then he lost it before the 2005 date that they brought these rules in. In which case he'd be able to drive turbo/v8 again, however in our friends case the licence cancelation will be after that date so no turbo or v8.

    • Do the following first and get back to us. - Clean and verify your IACV - Verify for vacuum leaks/post MAF leaks. (Pressure test is the best and cheapest way) - Do you have a BOV with stock ecu/MAF? If so, remove it.
    • Hey all, The skyline I have is stalling when the engine is at normal operating temp.  When starting it while it is cold, it'll run just fine.  I have replaced the battery (bad cell), I have replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter and clean the MAF sensor.  Any other suggestions?
    • Thanks for all the information on this.  I tried ordering the parts from Amayama website and all 3 Solenoids are discontinued and not available.  Does anyone have any other websites to suggest that I could find the parts?   Separate issue-- I will start a new thread, but basically the vehicle is stalling when warmed up.
    • It's unfortunate what Tomei USA has done to Tomei's name in general. I'm very weary of ordering parts from them now. I only order direct from a Japanse source (e.g Nengun). At least their logos are different, so you end up knowing what you have.
    • Update Issues 5 (plus #4) - 10 After making a claim about issue #4's missing part, DeAgostini Japan sent a whole new issue #4 and it arrived about 2 weeks after that. That was back in early March. It took another 4 weeks to receive issues 5 - 13 though. This update is for issues 5 - 10. Ove the 5 issues the front left suspension and most of the engine have been completed. The quality of the castings and fit of the parts is quite good, it seems better than DeAgostini's BNR34 Skyline GT-R from the Fast & Furious 2 movie, which (to me anyway) doesn't seem to have as tight tolerances or quite as accurate castings.  Each issue has a lot of info about the 1989 - 1993 Skyline range and other Nissan models from that era, but the focus is on the BNR32 Skyline GT-R Nismo and the various racing it did in Japan, Europe (Spa 24hrs) and of course Australia. I've included some text translated with Google Lens in some photos and will add to them if there's anything worth including.
