hey peoples, ive got a bit of a problem that im hoping some of u may be able to help out with. The first problem seems like a boost like but im not sure. Basically, it happens only from gears 3 to 5. When i put the foot on the throttle the boost guage goes all the way to my max boost (12.5psi) but along the way the car doesnt feel like its really pulling boost. It sorta revs funny with a little dip and then tries to get back to the normal rev. Its really wierd. How can i exaplain it. Its sorta like a hesitation in building boost.

The car is a shit to drive atm, especailly because through gears 1 and 2 its misifiring under high load. BTW its a series 1 r33 gts-t. Ive got turbo back exhaust, power fc, blitz boost controller, fuel pump, front mount, pod and BOV. Do u think it might be the clutch? i dunno

Any suggestions will be much appreciated

Thanks

Anton

Forget the clutch, that will never make your car misfire.

Back to sparkies, are they standard gap of 1.1mm, if so, do a search on sparkies and get the 0.8mm ones.

BCPRES6 or something, don't quote that code without searching though, it was ust pulled out of my bad memory.

If you do have the old gap ones, i reckon that would be it

yeh i will look at the coil and sparkies for the misfire problem but this cant explain the boost problem

on the contrary, if your coilpacks are breaking down, it explains the boost problem exactly.. hesitating and struggling to pull but still reading high PSI indicate its probably not a leak, so i'd definately say coils/sparks.. do a quick search about the coilpack issue and u can quick fix them instead of replacing. at least that will help u diagnose.

you will probably find its the 1 cause for both problems.. check out coils and sparks and see how u go i guess.

well it might be spark plugs and the rest of it bu tmy car does the exact same thing when it has an intercooler leak from one of the silicon hoses it makes boost but dosnt pull the gauge reads full boost (12psi) it misfires in 1st n 2nd then just realy slow n gay in the higher gears. check to see if all ur hose clamps are tight and stuff i no im no expert but thats wha thappens to my car when its got the same problem as urs

Sounds like its over boosting to me.

And how would you know if it shows max boost on your gauge - it could be 20 PSI for all you know. :D

Check for leaks in your wastegate canister hoses etc.

Do you have a manual bleed valve. as opposed to electrical..........try turning the boost down, could be overboosting and causing a lean out would explain the backfiring the manual bleeds often spike...cheapo ones tha is

Bernie: i reckon the gap on the plugs shoudl work the treat for the misifiring or at worst the coilpacks. But i cant explain the boost problem. its not detoniation or knock or anything. it really feels like a leak, maybe in one of the BOV hoses.

Blind elk: i think the tune is ok, think its a mech problem

Turbo x: its not overboosting bud. the boost controller is set to 12.5 psi and the guage is reading correclty. and i dont think its a turbo problem. ive checked the cat and the turbo, all seems fine

Munro gtst: shit to drive aye!

Striker: ill check the hoses

I've just had that problem!

Mine was coz one of my cooler joins were ever so slightly loose n was leaking.

Not enough to make it pop off but i could definately feel it when boosting.

Originally i thought it was the coils and plugs but i regapped the plugs and cleaned the coils n still no good.

So i thought id clean out the AFM, n in the process of taking the piping off to get to it, i found my leaky joint :D
