not comparable...

i'd take the s2000 hands down. the honda is in the league of 34 GTT territory, and even then it's a little of apples and oranges.

the s2000 out handles, out powers and simply outclasses the 25GT.

information on the R34 25GT can be found searching, what is it exactly you need to know? price? power? fuel economy? modification potential? practicality?

im not a fan of the hondas, but i would still get the s2000 over the gt any day of the week. Like said above, its faster, more nimble and if you are on your p's you will be able to sell it for more when you get off your p's and get a gtt easier >_<

reason I ask is the price difference between the two is pretty substantial. as for specs the GT has 147kw at 6000rpm and 255nm at 4000rpm. not 100% sure on the s2000 but I think from memory they had 176kw and 208nm.

im about to go on my p's in august and my budget is about the 35000 mark as my dad is paying for it.

My parents may not of been able to afford to buy me a 35,000 dollar car. Heck they never bought me a car. But they still love me and try to give me all the advantages in life they can afford. And if his parents can afford to buy him a car worth 35 grand good on them.

Dont listen to stlkhr.

The s2000 is a very very nice car to drive - specially with the top down. My bro has one, I have driven it a few times. Comparing it with my r33 - it handles way better, is lighter and I reckon more fun to drive. However, what I found was that my r33 had more torque and a smoother engine (2.5 6 turbo vs 2.0 4 NA) - and my 33 has mods, where as my bros s2k is stock.

I cant comment on the 34 though, as I havent driven it. But form my experience, driving hte s2000 after work a couple of months ago (top down and all) - was the best man...so relaxing! :cool:

Also, check if you can insure that on your p's - I know that I wasnt allowed to take my bros s2000 around much until i turned 25 (something about insurance too).

Man.. an S2k is a pretty freakin quick car!

This is no comment on P platers or your driving skills, but wouldnt it be better to buy say an R31 or 32 beater.. learn how to drive, the dynamics and skills involved in controlling a car, better yourself as a driver, learn about mechanics and better yourself at that too before you buy a really expensive car?

Chances are.. something will go wrong.. perhaps not an accident.. but scrapes.. scratches etc. will be many. Id rather scratch an already beaten up 31 than a crystal clean S2K just because of a simple mistake. Or am I just anal?

Ahh bud, go for the GTT u know u want to... :rolleyes:

Just pull off that extra 'T' badge at the back and cops wont know the better..

Hehee first day i got the GTT absolutley ate one of those hondas... so much noise and stress for little go..

Are you able to wait for your greens cause i think u can drive a turbo, i know i am..

I was in the same boat 3 years ago (though an S2000 back then was much more than $32000).

Anyway, just think long and hard before getting an R34 25GT for your first car. Sure they are beautiful cars, which attract attention, but alot of this attention can be unwanted.

For instance,

My car has been keyed, swiped (and the person did a runner), and had eggs thrown at it/tires let down numerous times.

Furthermore, insurance and registration are ridiculously expensive - if your parents refuse to support the costs of the car, you'll be hit with the harsh reality that cars like this, are bloody expensive to keep running.

Finally, if you still decide that you want an R34 25GT in great condition and with low KMs (<50,000), PM me :)

Also, to STLKHR, aint jealousy a bitch?

young driver = not much experience + high performance car = lots of $$$$$ for insurance.

I agree with GTS4WD get a r31/r32 and learn how to drive PROPERLY. it might end up saving your life in the end.

i could have got a GTT but decided not too cause i didnt feel comfortable in driving a car that has that much power,especially cause id only driven 4 cyclinder cars on my L's AND MY P"S, so i got a R34 GT instead, ive learned lots and maybe in a couple of years time i will get a GTT but not right now..............i dont want to wrap myself around a tree..

ive been learning on my l's in my bro's 1996 toyota supra which has been customised. the supra has pretty much the same kw's as the s2000

    • Done about 5k Km on the PS5's now, excellent street tyres, great in the dry, and the wet, seem to be wearing very well, I haven't measured tread depth, but it looks like minimal wear, I also had a different alignment done about 1500km ago,  From looking at the tread wear, which is really only minimal, the alignment changes were based off how the tread looked, and how it felt throwing it around, the changes have shown great results 215/45 17 at 32 psi Front Caster: 5.5° Camber: -1.5° Toe: 0.0mm Rear Camber: -1.0° Total Toe-in: 1.5mm I actually prefer PS5's now over the RS4's, as the PS5's are much better in the wet IMO, and as the MX5 gets driven in all weather conditions doing daily duties, hwy trips, and blasts in the mountains, wet weather grip is high on my priority list

    • Indeed they do. Best my diff builder could tell is it's a combination of the different cut/angle and it would seem they lap them in well on accell but less so on decel. He had to use a slightly different pattern to the lap to get the best result noise wise. Also as the rear diff runs in, the whine is getting less.        Overall they seem like a good thing so far. He's done a few neat crown/pinion before but all for race cars with loud everything, in most cases the exhaust is louder, so I am the first to notice.... and be somewhat of a pain   
    • What do you mean by "test"? It sounds like you're just switching things on and off that you already know don't work. Get the wiring diagram and a multimeter and start looking for power where there is supposed to be power and earth where there is supposed to be earth. Look for continuity across switches that are otherwise unresponsive, etc etc.
