JEALOUSY.. yeah right im proud to of work my arse of for what ive got its made me a more respectful person for the things i own and what others have worked for just because it annoys me that parents spoon and mouth there children does not it anyway make me jealous!!!! hes gona kill himself or someone else. learn to drive something a bit slower!! geeeeeez

I was in the same boat 3 years ago (though an S2000 back then was much more than $32000).

Anyway, just think long and hard before getting an R34 25GT for your first car. Sure they are beautiful cars, which attract attention, but alot of this attention can be unwanted.

For instance,

My car has been keyed, swiped (and the person did a runner), and had eggs thrown at it/tires let down numerous times.

Furthermore, insurance and registration are ridiculously expensive - if your parents refuse to support the costs of the car, you'll be hit with the harsh reality that cars like this, are bloody expensive to keep running.

Finally, if you still decide that you want an R34 25GT in great condition and with low KMs (<50,000), PM me :D

Also, to STLKHR, aint jealousy a bitch?

Here here STLKHR!!!!!!

totally agree with you, ive worked my arse (and still am) for everything thats been done to my car.......the loan...the insurance.....the tyres....the petrol.....the servicing EVERYTHING I HAVE PAID FOR...........not mummy and daddy. ME!!

and by god i love my car to bits and have so much respect for it cause i know if anything happens. I HAVE TO PAY, no one else.

so i dont do burn outs and silly things like that, (if any of you guys do those sorts of things thats your choice) i want my tyres to last!

i want my car to last, its my daily driver.

Im sick and tired of kids who get everything they want cause mummy and daddy "want the best for them" well if they were real parents they would make their kids buy THEIR own car and make them face the world of reality straight up instead of suger coating it for them.

cars arent toys.

S2000 is a quick car, no doubt about it, my cousin has one (but he drives like an old lady  ).

Far too quick for a P plater.

Performance cant be compared to your brothers Supra, I presume its a NA Supra becuase you said it has similar power. Supra has 167kw from memory, S2000 is getting up around 180kw in a much much lighter body, The Supra prob runs 15-16 odd sec 1/4s and the S2000 prob runs low 14s (just my estimate dont know actual figures). Not to mention the fact that S2000 has a notoriously "snappy" chassis, as in its prone to snap over steer.

Ive only driven my cousins once but it was great fun.

Dont buy either in my opinion. Go do an advanced driver training course and get a good car for around $15k, maybe a NA R33 Skyline if u have particularly good taste :) . That way you've got a good car, it wont look like it belongs to your dad.

Good luck with ur choice.

@ MissR34 and STLKHR

To suggest that not paying for your car will automatically make you treat your car worse than someone who paid for it with their own money is, well, absolute bullsh*t. Of course you will get kids who have been "spoon fed" their entire lives, and treat their possessions with no respect, but please save us from making such blanket generalizations as you both have done.

so i dont do burn outs and silly things like that, (if any of you guys do those sorts of things thats your choice) i want my tyres to last!

I have NEVER done a burn out in my car (I don't even know the technique - and have never been compelled to find out). I also drive like a grandma (which often pisses off back seat drivers when they drive with me), and never knowingly speed (I lost 3 points just after getting my license for talking on a mobile phone, so I basically did the majority of my first few months of licensed driving on 1 point). Perhaps I am an exception (in fact I am sure I am, when you think of the price of insurance - there must be a reason it's so high!), but regardless, I take comments such as "oh your parents bought you your car, YOU WON'T RESPECT IT!!!" with quite offence.

Given similar situations, I'm sure basically anyone would appreciate the opportunity to have your first car bought by your parents. I would not consider myself to be spoilt or spoon fed (anyone who knows me would I'm sure back me up), so such assumptions obviously are quite offensive.

Also STLKHR, the way you commented in caps, and made "DADY" references comes across as simple immature jealousy.

Anyway, I'll let you and MissR34 get back to congratulating eachother on your great morals.

Go the S2000. I've driven one before and I want one now! :)

As for getting your car paid for, I would do it too. I had to work in a factory and save for my first car (a VL Commodore) but given the chance I would have taken a car if it was given to me. It's a head start in life and you are fortunate.

im 17..red Ps..n my dad bought me a r34 gt. and only my car, everything else at my own expense.

to be honest i treat it as i bought it myself.

no smoking in the car, no food/drinks, clean interior 2 times a week, soft braking, smooth cornering n shit like that..

but newayz i reckon go for the skyline :( not performance wise but the looks is sexy.

save the performace for turbos later on

stlkhr and missr34

people who comment like these two piss me off cause yeah my parents r paying for the car but thats all their paying for, insaurance and everthing else including mods, i have to pay for.

by the way its not my fault my parents want to buy me a car so stop talking shit cause all it sounds like is use r jealous!

quote: "stop talking shit cause all it sounds like is use r jealous!"

mate, im not jealous quite proud of myself over the fact that i got a loan for MY car, no one else's, and i pay for everything. so i have nothing to be jealous over, however i think it is you that may be jealous because even though you might be paying for insurance and mods, you still arent taking full responsibility of the car.

any way it is his parents fault cause if they are willing to buy a high perfromance vehicle to someone who has literally no driving experience, and i dont care how long you have been driving a modded supra, it dosent mean you can drive) then they are the ones at fault in the end when their kid goes and has a major accident and gets seriously hurt, or even worse, killed, because their kid just didnt know how to drive properly or was doing something stupid at the time.

Sorry, but I think you are overrating the performance of the R34 non-turbos in this post. If you drive any car like an idiot there's a chance you'll have an accident, but compared to a turbo'd Skyline as a first car, I think you'd have much lesser chance of being involved in any serious accidents.

Like I said though, drive like an idiot in any car, and you'll have yourself a write off eventually.

Also, you accusing him of being jealous made me laugh out loud. It's clear that you think that you have some sort of moral foothold over him, simply since his parents are purchasing his first car. Would you pass up the chance to have your first car purchased for you by your parents? Unlikely. If on the other hand you can prove that your parents offered you a non turbo R34, which you passed up, then I'll respect your comments. Until then however, get off your high horse.

what am i jealous about?

how arent i taking full responsibility?

once my parents pay for the car, thats all they do, then the car from that moment on is my responsibility. im goin to be responsible for everything that happens to the car.

i agree with viscount.

missr34 would u pass up the chance if your parents offered to buy u a car?

I would not take a car if my parents were to purchase one for me.............

you can turn around and say i am lying, but im not..............i wouldnt take it...i would rather pay for it myself.

why you ask?

because if they are paying for it they can take it away at any time..........its their money not mine......and if they were paying for it then it is never really yours to begin with, cause they are paying for it.....not you.

dosent matter whether they say at the end "its yours" cause it never really is...

As some have said the R34 is not a massively powerful car standard this is true but once modded even with no turbo my car is quite quik, a big car with significant power is not the best for a beginer, I admit my first car was a XRfalcon 1967 had a 302w in it 4sp, now it was a big car and quite grunty for a first car but i had quite a bit of experiance and room to drive it safely and i respected it caus i rebuilt the motor and paid for it out of my pocket, this is besides the point, we can not get our message across to these people. let them kill there mates and themselves and hopfully not others, the more stupid drivers out there the harder the road laws are getting soon your 1st car will have to be a 1300cc, In NZ we have out of controll idiots who think they can drive and get fast little cars and they end up killing people, at least one crash every 3wks lately. Have fun while it lasts!!! pay your own bills.......yes i would take a car from my parents only if i had no other way and i wouldnt expect anything over a $4000 its just wrong im a adult not 16.....

when i was first applying to get a loan for MY car.........one of the banks said if i get a guarantor i could get the money.........my mum wouldnt go guarantor she wanted me to get the money myself.

so.......a couple of months later via another bank i did.

so i now own an R34 non turbo.......................so even if my mum did go guarantor it would be a different situation cause she would be the one with the loan in her name, not mine.....so glad she said no.....i really am.

so i have no high horse to sit on..................just sitting in a beautiful R34 GT that i call my own.

Same here STLKHR i have only a few little mods to my girl and when i put my foot down, she can go.....quite quickly too.....once i agree with your comments...

After coming from a turbo 33 to a non turbo 34 I wouldnt call non turbo skylines a performance car but each to there own I guess......

Hi just wondering if you are implying that you have to have a turbo or supercharger to be a performance car? funny caus i have diffinitly blowen away a few R32,R33 turbos since i have upgraded my beast, at first it was a bit sluggish but once i opened the intake/exhaust, placed a interceptor air/fuel adjuster and removed the fan it its way better, next will be dyno tune and after i save enuff i will be bolting on a charger unit, but hey im happy in the mean time. i have a low Ks sexy looking car which is the mintest car I have owned.... performance aint always a turbo/charger, and it aint all bout speed anyway. NOT SAYING THAT YOU WERE IMPLYING ALL THAT MATE cheers

    • Just something I found searching for more info on Emotion R, apparently the ECR33 Skyline GTS25t was either originally black, or there were two of them, the black one being the original demo car, then building a white one which was part of the 1997-onwards (to at least 2008!)
