I am F*@ken spewin,

A few days a ago I was drivin home from work on Erindale Road (Hamersley) when some nob went thru a Give way Sign and fully F@#kd up the front end of my car!!!

The engine was undamaged (besides the radiator) although a whole new front end was needed so the quote to repair was $20,000 ($5k of this was for the airbags which both deployed!).

The Insurance Coy has written the car off although the salvage on it is a mere $8k. Considering the engine is totally fine and it is a Grade 4 SII - I was really surprised that it will be salvaged for so little...

When I find out what wrecking coy has bought it, I will post it on here as the car is immaculate inside & out and guys who are searching 4 parts may be interested.

Thanks also to the guy who stopped @ the accident scene in the Black 33 to see if I was OK...I am pretty sure he is on these forums and I have seen him on a Perth Performance Cruise...

spada let me know what insurance company it was with bro and I will find out which auction yard it is going to,

dont worry about the salvage amount its not all that important its the market that drives the price up

hmm unless it has already been auctioned and a wrecker has bought it already

mostly the salvage value comes from a salvage valuator

Hey that was me that stopped that night..... I remember as I heard the accident from my house ( I was leaving around the same time as the crash to go get fuel ). Looking at the accident I thought something like that must of happened.... I knew then it was going to be a write off looking at the damage.... As long as your ok, I guess thats the main thing. Still its very sad to see a car that you put soo much time and effort into destroyed before your eyes...

On a side note, I have been wondering .... Do you have a sister named Melissa???

Thanks for the concern guys...

b005t,

I am havin a look around now 4 a new car, as my settlement cheque is $28k I might look at adding a few extra $$ and gettin a 32 GTR.

NO_RSPECT,

Wrecker has already snapped it up, I will find out tomorrow who it is & let u know(Insurance Co was CGU)

GTS-4OrCeD,

The airbags are amazing, I was only travelling between 60-70ks and as soon as impact occurred they exploded with such pressure that there are all crack marks in the windscreen where the bags hit. The gas that inflates them nearly choked me...

MrGTST,

Thanks for stopping and seeing if I (& the car) was alright. The noise must have been pretty loud hey

Yeah my sister is Melissa, you went to Warwick SHS hey?

Nice lookin car u got there mate!

memphis,

Gearbox is good as gold. I always used Redline Oil in it...

Yep I wen't to Warwick with Melissa.... I was pretty sure you were her brother but I thought I would ask anyways :P Gee I havent spoken to Melissa since school I think.... :D

Thanks for the compliment..... I am happy with the way the car is looking these days :)

I hope you find something as nice as what you were driving as I had seen that around a few times and it looked like it was in really good nick...

    • Hi all, Restoring r33 series 1 rb25det. All the heater hoses were on their way out, have replaced them and put it all back together. After testing I noticed a small leak from behind the head on the actual metal water line to the turbo when cars warm. I tried running a longer hose over it but it kept leaking...   I am about to take the (stock) manifold off again😔 to change the water line does any one have any lines they recommend? I was looking at Aeroflow Turbo Oil & Water Line Set but not sure what everyone else recommends. Car is completely stock but want to upgrade turbo eventually. it looks like ill have to disconnect a lot just to replace these lines so if there's anything else recommended to do please let me know. Thank you in advance!
    • From memory, on the R33 GTSt at least, while everyone says "It's not adjustable", I found when I changed clutches in mine, it just needed a small adjustment on the rod length. But be very wary here, as you could end up trying to push the pushrod in the master too far, or blowing out the slave.   Most likely though, if the master/slave isn't bypassing internally or leaking out, then the throw out is the wrong height compared to the fingers on the clutch, so when it moves to disengage the clutch, it isn't 100% disengaged. You can check part of this out too by jacking the car up, having the engine running, put your foot on the clutch and try to engage 1st gear. If it goes in pretty easy (Compared to the ground) and/or the wheels start turning a fair bit and it takes a bit too much brake pedal to bring them back to a stop, this is likely the issue.  I'm not sure if you can adjust the height of the forks etc in these though, it's been that long since I've touched any RB gearbox.
    • That's all good, I thought I was missing some interesting feature! Maybe @PranK can double check if that is something that is meant to be operating or not.
    • I hope that is not something that bad. From what i remember he said that only first gear is "hard" to get in and that he has couple of ideas what to try next but idk 😕  hope it is not gearbox out. I will let you know.
    • If it's not the hydraulics, it is probably gearbox back out. Usually as per @Duncan's post, or otherwise associated with not getting the throwout fork positioned correctly. All the way up to catastrophically bolting shit back together without it being aligned properly and wrecking the clutch/input shaft/flywheel/something else.
