Hi there,

I'm a 3D animator from sydney and I've been on the forum for a while just reading about Skylines as I really want to get one.

These are the cars of my past ..

http://www.jase3d.com/images/myCars/civic1.jpg ... a silly all look and no go automatic

http://www.jase3d.com/images/myCars/civic2.jpg ... heavily modded internally

http://www.jase3d.com/images/myCars/s15.jpg ... only mildly modded

then a standard RX-8 for a year.

http://www.jase3d.com/images/myCars/itr.jpg ... what I"m driving right now.

I'm trying to sell my integra typeR at the moment and I want to get back into something with a turbo and I have about $21k to spend.

I'm on the look out for a R32 GTR ... as these are old cars, I just want to ask about how reliable these are ... and how they drive.

also what to watch for when buying one. Should I be looking for one that's had it's suspension replaced as I assume the stock ones would be very old by now? There are quite a few for sale and it's hard to know which one and they're similarly priced.

I'm looking for a slightly modded one if anyone has one for sale .. preferably a 1994 silver one.

Are there any other skylines that people would recommend with a budget of $21-22k ?

thanks in advance

if your looking for a 32 gtr in top condition its gonna be hard as there older cars which would probably have alot of k's on them. if i were you and your willing to spend 22k i would buy a r33 gtst series 2 in great condition with quite a few mods. jumping from a modified honda to a modded skyline is gonna be a nice thrill for you id imagine.

welcome to the forum also :domokun:

kms on a jap import mean nothing. look more towards the condition of the car. there's a good guide on what to look for in the tutorials section of these forums. it aimed at r33's but most of that stuff could be applied to other cars too.

i rekon you should get a r33 s2 as mentioned above. at that price on todays market you are gonna score a really nice one with a few basic mods. or you could try to find a stock r34 gtt. i think even r33 gtrs are close to that mark nowadays (shame really) there was a dude selling a nice example on sau for about the 25k mark.

anyway gl with ur decision and hopefully another 'line will be cruising around

yes the R33 GTRs are coming down in price so much! and for a few thousand over a GTS-T!

I really prefer the look of the R32 than the R33GTS-T ... but the R33GTR is so nice ... all comes down to my budget however.

It is such a hard choice.

have people converted their R33 GTS-Ts to at least look like R33 GTRs ? does that involve alot of costs ? looks like the whole front is very different. if anyone selling a GTS-t that looks like a GTR, I'd be in it :)

what's a good price for a good condition R33 GTS-T S2 right now ? about $17k ?

17k should get you a mint series 2. Guy here at work just got one for 16k from a dealer and it's a lovely car.

You can make your gts-t look like a gtr. Front guards are different along with bonnet, front bar, etc, etc it be cheaper to just buy a gtr.

If you want to get a r32 gtr, just make sure you have enough money left over to rebuild the engine.

as said above, KM's mean nothing, go by the overall look of the car's age.

I absolutely love the R32's, but dont think I could get a 32 gtr now, just too old and to thrashed by now.

just my opinion though, you might get a really nice example, with a great engine :)

oh and welcome to the forum

yes I was kind of scared of how old they are.

there are quite a few that's already had the engined rebuilt with a ton of mods on them .. and even ones with complete resprays as well ... they look very tempting.

I think it's just a GTR badge thing for the R32. a GTS-T will always ... not be a GTR. hhhmm...

I personally think that the R32 GTR looks the best .. even better than the R34.

+1

you're going from an s15, rx8 then BOOM...an old "bomb"(32GTR, compared to your previous cars of course)

go for the 33 GTR, imo

GL & welcome to the forum :domokun:

are they really old bombs ?

yeah ... since the S15, I've had to give up the money spending on my cars ... I've had 2 kids since then ... so no more big spending on big toys anymore. So just working to a budget to get the most out of. I'm looking into some R33 GTS-Ts now .. some very good examples on carsales & drive.com

why a series 2 ? what's wrong with the series 1.5s ?
