Very seriously considering replacing my 18x7.5 gt4's with some 18x9 34 gtr rims. From what i can gather r33 gtr rims fit and have the same width and offset as the r34 gtr rims.

So i figure they should fit, and think it should only take minor lipping or rolling to fit a 245/40 tyre.

Would this line of thought be on the money??

Unfortunately no.

This was my secret plan some time ago, however I tested some BNR34 rims and did some measurements and they will stick out too far

R33 GTR rims are just on the mark.

Blitz,

did u actually fit them to the car, because if they are the same width and offset i cant understant, i mean its the tyre we should be worrying about anyway isnt it, and if its(the tyre) going to have the same dimensions roughly as a 17 inch version then what is going on really

Looks like i might have to spring for new gt4s that are an inch wider, doh. Not to mention on the 18x8.5+30 nismos i would run the same tyre as on the 34 gtr rims, that being a 245/40

:)

Offset/width truly is a terrible way to measure try and work out if a wheel will fit.

It is still blowing my mind that a rim with the same offset and and width wont fit as another with the same o/w that will just because its an inch bigger in diameter.

Blitz, what measurements did u compare between the 33 and 34 rims? Did u trail fit one at all?

think about it this way -

if a 15x9+30 was available, while the rim might protrude, a narrow tyre would pull the top of the tyre under the guard.

if a 18x9+30 is fitted, the rim as a function of location from the guard will be further out (remembering that the guard does not sit at 90 degrees from the road surface) so will struggle to fit under the guard.

i can't explain it without a pic... sorry

Blitz, wasnt trying to be a cock, or not take ur word. Im genuinely interested in what u measured etc

Ronin, thats just it. U could run a 245 on a 15 inch rim and it would fit, but as soon as you go to a 18inch rim it doesnt, even tho they are the same offset and width.

Anyone with a pic to help my dumb ass would be good

I haven't seen R 34 GTR rims on a 32 ( none GTR) so I can't say for sure . I have seen R33 GTR rims with 245x45x17 tyres on a 32 gts and they fit ok level with the guard, they don't hit on stock suspenssion but the fronts will rub the inner liner on full lock. 34 GTR rims will stick out the same but because they are 1" bigger diameter they may hit the top of the guard with the stock 245 tyres. If you went narrower tyres like 235 or 225 it will make a difference .

I know they will fit a 33 GTS though , here is a pic .

I think if you can get your hands on some to test fit, thats the only way....but then different tyres etc etc

Lip the guards, put some camber into it, and see what happens, maybe raise the height.

Seems alot of work though, but if you can manage it, it will be very unique and well worth the effort because i doubt anyone has gone to this amount of trouble, and it will look nuts.

If you do test fit or whatever show us some pics!

sorry dude no chance in hell

they are a struggle to fit on a 32 gtr

you could aways just get bigger guards

from the pic above they look to have a bit of room on the ol gtr.

Blitz, thanks for the pic, those rims are fat :)

Wrxhoon, perhaps i could run a 35 series instead of the 40?? the old rim gets bigger tyre profile gets smaller trick , maybe that way i could keep 245s.

Fwiw i run 2.5 neg at the front and 1. 5 at the rear.

Thanks for all the help guys
