G'day guys.

Just wondering who on here is running a 26/30 in thier car, what bottom end and bolt ons you have and what power you are producing.

Just curious because I'm currently building one for my vl street/drag car, I'm looking for mid 9s.

I'm also undecided on which turbo to use, my choices are a 1000hp plain bearing ta45 76wheel and .91 rear ot a 1.00 rear t04z.

Also, I'm unsure on how far to go with the head, springs, valves etc and also cam specs.

I want something that is going to run the times at the track, whilst not being too laggy for street use.

I have a very tough jatco auto behind her which is going to sap the power a bit but it will make up for it with times.

So far my setup consists of...

26 head and standard plenum

cp forged pistons

forged rods

nitrided crank

grub screwed

o-ringed

etc

rochester 1000cc injectors

eXtm custom exhaust manifold

turbosmart 45mm gate

3.5" from turbo back

I'm also undecided on an ECU, can anyone help me there?

With this setup and say the 1.00 t04z would it be unrealistic to expect 450-500rwhp on around 24psi and pump fuel with a good head and set of cams?

What setup are you guys using on the 26/30 and what sourt of power is it producing?

cheers

brad

So do you have questions or do you want comparisons?

Because all you did was ask for results, and they are in the sticky :/

There arent a lot of users on here with a 26/30. And those that have *most* have posted up in the sticky thread.

Also, checking the RB26 dyno sticky will help aswell.

A few people are using T04Z's and have posted up, so obviously a bit of lateral thought application and you can come up with some expected results & parts listed

yeah i just wanted to know, what size cams i should be using and how far to go with the head, also it looks like ill be using the t04z with 1.00 rear so I want to know how far i have to go with the head to make 450-500rwhp comfortably on pump fuel

I think you would be far better off running a GT3582R at that power level , even then your not really stressing the thing . Running a larger turbo than necessary for a set power level merely lifts the on boost power range upwards . You would expect the boost enhanced torque to be happening under 3500 rpm even with the 1.06 A/R GT35 turbine housing .

Cheers A .

    • Ha ha ha! I know those feels mate I've finally got the garage cleared enough that next weekend I'll do some actual work on my car (hopefully). Unfortunately garage isn't usable after 10am at the moment That said, I've done a lot of work this weekend on helping finalise a friend's Production Race car. Full started Christmas Eve. We're down to about 8 tasks on the list, including "get a wheel alignment". Sometimes it's just easier working on someone else's car or project than our own stuff 😛
    • Ha ha, ended up going it alone.  I just sent it (in a very nervous fashion).  Once I'd released the locks and it didn't automatically start spinning out of control i felt a bit more confident.   It made some loud sounds (cracking and creaking noises) when I first spun it which got the heart rate going again!  I couldn't bring myself to leave it tipped on the side.  I feel a bit more comfortable having back right side up while it sits there. I'd get angry with your last point but you're 100% correct! 😅 Even yesterday I managed to distract myself at numerous times to make a bracket to fit an LED flood light off the back of the house and fix my sons pushbike.  There were other little taks nibbling at my brain for the rest of the day too...
    • Probably one of the more nerve wracking experiences of my entire life! 😂😂 The balance (centre of gravity) is out still but in a direction that gives me comfort!   It's quite bottom heavy still meaning it takes a bit of muscle to rotate it.  The plus side of that is that it wants to to go back to upright.  Better that than wanting to go all stranded turtle on me!
    • hmmm that's not ideal. This is a pretty new engine right, will be interesting if your engine guy has any theories about causes
    • A universal ball joint removal c press kit is better money spent and will work for the Hicas ball joints.  Here's a 45$ CAD Example. ATPEAM Heavy Duty Ball Joint Press Kit with 4WD Adapters | Professional 4 in 1 Ball Joint Press Removal and Installation Tool for Cars and Trucks | Universal Ball Joint Tool with Storage Case, Ball Joint & Tie Rod Tools - Amazon Canada
