The second half of the poll isn't entirely accurate. I don't drive my car interstate, because I don't really drive interstate much. If I go interestate, I normally fly. If I was going to, I wouldn't drive my car, i'd drive my daily. My car's really bumpy, very loud, uses a lot of petrol. It's not really a daily driver - that's what my other car's for.

Interstate for me is about 2000km south to NSW or god knows how far west across to NT.

Interstate driving just doesnt occur for me, i will fly if i have to go. Another thing i will add is that I am 6 foot 5, sitting in any car for a few hours is of great discomfort.

Therefore it doesnt happen

Wow it's so good to see such a wide variety of responses, I hadn't really anticipated this level of interest at all :P. The second question of the poll wasn't well thought out on my behalf which is sad.

I think it's very interesting what you talk about Public Enemy in the nature of the cars we drive. hard seats, bumpy rides, loud exhausts, all these things let us interact with the world going past. I totally agree with what you are saying, I would go further to say that with the right settings a skyline can bring you closer to the world than many other cars. To me this is precisely what a proper GT car should do and anything less is removing the Grand from the Tour! As an interesting aside it's one of the few reasons I have ever consider riding motorbikes!

I also think it's interesting that most people are happy to drive their cars interstate given a good reason, I think it comes down to the same feeling I was having about driving around Tasmania. I spent a lot of the time before I left Victoria stressing that the car was fine and everything was in order, but as soon as I hit the road none of that mattered anymore. I was happy to keep driving for as long as I could (which sometimes wasn't very long mind you hehehe), I just needed a good enough reason (which was often to see the other side of the hill). I suppose this sort of thinking about cars might be confronting but I hope you understand what i'm trying to say :w00t:. It's the precise reason why whenever my GF questions whether there is another car i'd like, I strangely always say no.

... Although that W12 Golf is certainly pointing in the right direction :(.

my car is a daily driver, travel around 400km's a week in it.

i've taken it on one long drive (about 200Ks each way) to a retreat recently. most fun i've ever had in a car, GT-Rs are just unbelievable driver's cars. the handling, the speed, the whole experience was just incredible.

sure it wasn't comfortable, but then if i wanted comfort i would have bought a fairlane/statesman instead.
