QFM A1RM Brake Pads - Sooooo good! i use them on the street and track, dont squeel, a tad bad when cold but once they are warm...... they are the goods

Thank Kane, when you say a tad bad when cold, I have short legs and cannot reach the tyre to stop it :)

haha im not sure i get your joke, but these pads are very good, especially for the price i think $140 or somthing like that, i didnt get any fade when i used them, also have DBA XS rotors and these pads, worked well, and i attended all day around smsp south circuit! still using them now. its not my daily driver but very good for a street/track pad

They do work at SMSP South as you dont have high speed braking... At Wakie on the otherhand the A1RM are shite... I ran them on my car for a few sets but since switching to Winmax have not had the problems with pad fade...

I have run Winmax W5's recently and they seem to hold up to a bit track work as well as slower stuff (hillclimb).

At Mallala in my GTR which is heavy on brakes they held up to 5-6 lap sprints with minimal change in feel.

The feel is different to the PMU club racer I usually run, there seems to be less initial bite, but the performance must be there (did a PB of 1:18.7 on them). Obviously the W5 is a lot cheaper than the PMU so great value for money. The W7 may be more suitable to more serious track duties.

The wear was minimal for the one track day.

I have some Winmax 6.5’s on order to try. Will run a few hillclimbs on them and maybe a track day earlier next year so it will be a while until i get feedback on them

in the old days the drum brakes in the cars were shit and we used to joke that you were better off using your shoes on the tyres instead of using the brake shoes, it is a shit getting old because some young blokes do not know what we are talking about, LOL

what?

they're terrible on the track.. even cheap shit Intima SR pads perform better!

each to there own. i find them great. lucky we are all not the same, otherwise this world would be boring!

what other pads have you used before? it's hard to compare if the best pad you've ever used are A1RM

lucky i never said they are the best pad ive ever used :) i said they are very good! and only used them around south circuit. a few people earlier said that they got brake fad after a few laps of south circuit and they are too heavy for GTRs well i own a 34GTR the heaviest of them all and i found them good. no fad at all. not sure what else to say haha just find ones you like and stick to them!

I ran A1RM's on my standard brakes and the were shit but now they're more than enough on my AP's.

Hi Michael, Brakes seem to be more personal than tyres, haha

Sorry, but what do you mean, shit on your standard and good on your AP's.

I would imagine the brake fluids could also have an effect on the brakes performance. It seems DOT4 grade is the go.

I will be getting braided lines fitted.

Dot 4 is standard. What you need to look for is the temperature rating - the higher the better. I use Motul RBF600 - there are a couple of others in that range. More important than the rating is keeping it fresh so at a minimum change it annually.

^ he's got larger brakes, which means larger rotors for cooling, more braking force from larger caliper and overall more surface area

what is a good size front and back for an R34GTR. No good going quick if you cannot stop :)

I personally can't comment because I own a shit box R33 GTS-t

But if I had your car and money lying around I wouldn't blink twice about getting the 365mm Alcon 6 Piston kit for the R34 GT-R - that's if the car is being used for track work.. if not I would just stick with the stock setup.. it's more than enough when paired with good pads, fresh brake fluid and good tyres :)

Had no luck finding information or price on the Alcon brake kit for the R34GTR ?

    • The car revs up through the gears much better/faster now, and fuel consumption doesn't really seem to have be affected either on a Hwy cruise, which wasn't expected  The FAB9 intake manifold has been problematic sourcing though, I've contacted Plasmaman to ask about their intake, which you can get different runner lengths spec'd, and, their different options for throttle bodies  The only real physical drawback with the Plasmaman intake is how to connect it to my current OEM style airbox, as FAB9 make a OEM style back half of the airbox to suit the larger diameter throttle body, and all that is required is a 30°bend silicone pipe to mate the throttle body to the airbox Car also goes in for some exhaust work in a week or so to fit the biggest resonator they can fit clearance wise in the front pipe to help remove some of the drone, there isn't alot of realestate under there, a rough guesstimation is it will only be about 3-400mm long and maybe 90-100mm diameter, and with a 60mm exhaust that doesn't leave alot of space for the internal volume of the resonator to do its thing I'm thinking I may need to bin the "high flow" 100 cell cat for something a bit more substantial, yeah, and restrictive, like a 200-400 cell, to help, but, I have ample room for a really large bodied cat to replace the current one which has around a 4" diameter body I may look around in the recycling bins and see if I can find a massive newish cat that was "replaced" with some new full exhaust system that the local exhaust shop in Western Sydney is doing
    • Hahah look at that smile 😂 Just like those ones on IG where they compare the husband in family photos vs husband going fishing lol. I don't think I'll participate this time, clutch isn't in and also the last time I went there were too many numpties on the cruise sessions. Nearly caused a few accidents holding up people and a few guys initiating massive kerb to kerb drifts with heaps of cars right behind them. Not to mention, there were guys on the track session using it as a power cruise session.

    • All Jap Day is coming up again! 13th of July this year. Are you going? Tickets go on sale on Wednesday 6pm. Please let Quang know as well. https://m.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=1163155775853542   I still get shit from my wife for this photo because it is the happiest she has ever seen me. And it's not with her, it's in someone else's car.   Quang's EVO is sick, but that rotary wagon flying past was absolutely bonkers.
