The car is a completely standard 1990 GTR 32, standard boost, standard airbox and exhaust as well.

It was ok when I left home this morning. When I was on the way back home on freeway, suddenly a strange sound came out from engine bay, then the engine lost power and felt like a NA engine.

I tried to push it hard, the REV went up slowly and didn't feel the turbo power, the boost guage never went past zero, a winding sound came out from engine bay and the sound became stronger when the REV was higher.

When I got home, the car was idling as normal, no smoke came out from the exhaust, but still no turbo power.

Can anyone tell me are the turbos gone or is the engine problem? I didn't feel either of turbos is working. Is that expensive to fix? I hope it is not a serious problem.............................

Any help will be appreciated in deep.

The turbo is most liekly blown. When the turbo blows, it doens't have to blow smoke. I have one here without a rear wheel that didn't leak a drop of smoke.

Could be expensive if the ceramic dust went back up into your engine taking the engine with it.

If not, you're up for a set of turbos, plus the labour

What where you doing when the noise " suddenly " started ( fullboost or just crusing ).

Sounds something like what happened to me, when i left home one day the car was running fine and the further i got the less boost i had till i had none at all and same as you i thought i'd blowin a turbo but the day i drove the car and it had boost again and again the longer i drove it the less boost i had til it was all gone, turns out it was the compiance cat that came with the car had stuffed up changed it and had no more probs. :P

So how do I know the turbo is blown or not? I don't feel the turbo power at all, I thought if one of them is blown, the other one is still working.........can anyone give me the answer?

And what is the reason why the boost guage never goes past zero?
