hey all.

im about to purchase a hybrid(HDi) fmic kit for my 25t.

the biggest concern for me is that i dont want to have to trim the fan blades of the visc. fan. is it possible to NOT cut the fan and just run it a lil higher?

Kinda urgent as i will be getting it in a few days.. if i have to cut the blades then i wont get it.

we fitted a hybrid intercooler kit on a r34 at work ,they made the top pipe all wrong, we had a bit of trouble with it hitting the fan on top an the side, so i welded an extra 30mm of pipe to make it longer,as he never wanted to buy a new pipe,it hight have been a one of thing,an yours is a r33 (so may me a little dirrerent again)but some thing to look out for

y dont u get the pipeing that come back up through the some side that way u will have nothing to worry about

i got the same kit for a 33gtst and you will have to cut the fan blades unless you do what BAMR33 said and muck around with it and mount it higher. If you do this then the mounting points might not line up so there are a few things to consider. you can also get a new pipe made up for this bit and use other pipes that come with the kit but thats more expense.

yeh i would love the stock return pipes but a cold air box wouldnt fit at all..

i just hate the idea of chopping up the fan

i only had about 3mm come off mine, but i never had a hybrid kit though, wae never cut it just started the car, pushed the pipe down a bit

i take it you dont live in synney

hmm so i can mount the pipe a bit higher but just have to secure it.. thats not a problem.. but would the cooler mount up if i move the pipe a bit? how does that affect the fitting of the cooler?

sorry iv never installed a fmic so dont knw much, thus the newb questions, and yer i have searched for days.. couldnt find the hybrid installation guide which was on here.. so yer >_<

i had the same sort of questions when doing mine  was very lost on how to do it. with mounting the pipe higher you have to check that the bonnet wont push it back down or move it when closed and be pressing against it all the time. In terms of the actual cooler it might be that the pipes are at a different angle a bit so make sure they are in enough and secure as you dont want them blowing off when you driving off but cooler should be able to move from side to side slightly anyway before fully tightening.

I have the pipes returning to stock in/out.

But on a mates car, I just aligned the pipe work first and then positioned the intercooler after. With the silicon hoses there is a little leniency for difference in installation so don't be to worried. Just trial fit over and over until your happy and ready to cut the hole in the inner guard.

are you using one of those coolers where both the inlet and outlet are on the same side? or did you use a standard front mount and make custom piping run under the cooler and back up to the stock pipes?

yer its one of the coolers that use the over the radiator setup...

my above post was for BAMR33 lol

yeh the one you got is the standard front mount kit, some people had to trim there blades and others did not, just try and move the piping back alittle and secure it there as others have said. >_<

No, I just bought a normal opposed entry/exit intercooler and made up my own SS piping. Happy with the results, but I'm now considering upgrading to a big (at least 100mm thick, custom end tanks etc) side mount intercooler with shroud and supporting water injection just for something different.

If your really worried about the fan just get a greddy spec-m they are about the same price. No trimming required.

the Hybrid kit is costing me $620 NZD delivered. i dont think the GREDDY will be a similar price?

Just chop away !

It must be the 1st and last time i ever used the chicken cutters out of our kitchen knife block :/

If you get stuck mucking around with the fitment, it really isn't worth the worry. Just chop em, feal a bit bad for about 2 days of the slightly/un-noticable/untidy bits under the bonnet and then you'll be, what was i worried about!

But you can chop em and then use a file to round off the edges to neaten it up a bit...which i should do

    • Evening fam, Pretty much what the title asks, I have looked all over and can’t find a proper answer expect one post from almost a decade ago which is vague. ive seen photos and they look pretty much identical, would an r33 GTR N1 reo work on an r32? reason I ask is they are cheaper to buy… $700 compared to 1k+ for an r32 n1 reo

    • Yeah was thinking that. I've had the car go lower idle possibly around 650rpm every once in a long time after pouring fuel and would sound quite rough like a misfire, almost like it's shit fuel or something but who knows.

Great event last year and hoping for the same this year.    I've emailed them to ask to set a location aside for the Stageas for the show and shine - they are happy to do so if we can get them numbers, I'm happy to keep track of that. Entering as Nismo category.    I'll be road tripping up from Melbourne, would be cool to convey if people are interested, maybe there is SAU convoys from each capital?
