scarface
when you get it tuned, get it tuned to only run rich in the topend which is when you need it to run rich, off boost your car shouldn't have to run rich as its not under load and shouldn't detonate, mine bad on fuel because its always rich, even on idle i can smell fuel Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/170682-250kw-275kw/page/2/#findComment-3150700 Share on other sites
Guilt-Toy
YES. the cruise maps are in a completly different area to the boost power maps and you CAN have the best of both worlds. Its just that people ring up all the dyno tuners and find the CHEAPEST tune they can drive there car in there with a new unmapped power FC get a few power runs get the max power the can in 30 minutes to an hour then pay there $250 for their tune and drive away with really bad cruise maps. When i tune a car i spend more time on cruise then i spend on boost. I like my cars to have good fuel economy and driveability as i tune them like i tune my own car. Its the difference between a $200 tune and a $800 tune. You pay $800 for a tune from UAS because the TUNE THE CAR. Not only just boost the car up to make it fun to drive. Thats all there is to it. Also driving habbits have alot to do with it. sometimes on my drive home (60km's) i dont go over 10% injector duty. ok stupid question, remember i dont kno much about turbo cars, when i get a tune done for it can i basically say to them look i want a mix of good kws and good fuel milage? or what? scarface
yeah cars that are tuned badly on fuel are usually just tuned on WOT, wide open throttle, which is stupid as people spend most of their time driving normally and need a tune for that, good tuning makes all the difference, in my old car i had a microtech which people know are usually uneconomical, but my tuner tuned it at every rpm instead of just at WOT and i was getting 10L to 100km's with normal driving and still pushing decent power Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/170682-250kw-275kw/page/2/#findComment-3150712 Share on other sites

Guilt-Toy
It goes like this. you take it to a workshop where they are going to tune your car for you for $150 - $250 then your going to get shit fuel economy. You get what you pay for. Pay shit money and no time spent on it and get a shit tune. I have fixed cruise maps on power fc's from various workshops. The workshop is not paying the fuel bill are they ? why do they care?? they dont give you a print out of your fuel economy with their business name on it they give you a power print out and most of the people are "gees thanks man thats great power thanks for doing such a great job on my car" lol makes me laugh... R31Nismoid
Yeah, a good tune with economy your looking at a bare min of $500 before you start. Upto 700-800 quite easily. But do the math, the economy of an extra 100-150km's per tank makes a difference soon enough. Basti
what kinda management can this kinda economy be achieved with? i own an auto and i know that the simple fact of 1 less gear means worse economy. it also means i cant use a standalone ecu (eg pfc). im guessing somtthing like a safc is not gonna cut it right? Guilt-Toy
stock computer can get economy but not as good as a PFC. try a HKS F-CON and get it tuned in sydney what kinda management can this kinda economy be achieved with? i own an auto and i know that the simple fact of 1 less gear means worse economy. it also means i cant use a standalone ecu (eg pfc). im guessing somtthing like a safc is not gonna cut it right? Basti
prefer to do it in melb. thanks for the reply tho will look into the f-con. im getting crappy economy atm. car is dead stock - just a 3 inch catback, hi-flow panel and constant 7psi (eliminated the factory 2stage) at 159rwkw and i get about 380-400ks. if some of u guys are getting 100ks more with about 100kw more power then i figure i need a tune Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/170682-250kw-275kw/page/2/#findComment-3150913 Share on other sites
