dont think it will be worth fixing to be honest. they would have to cut the rear quarter out and even then there are very few workshops that are gonna wanna fix a car that has a twisted chassis and bent roof. I think the cheapest option (if you can call it cheap haha) would be to buy a rolling shell and transfer all my running gear over into it as all mechanicals of the car are fine...only major cosmetic and structural damage. And if you think about it..now the car has had a smash its never gonna handle the same anymore....something is always gonna be out

Bad luk man! alot of us have done similar....

I am going to just mention with re shelling, be carful with identites as in stolen versions.

it happened to me where the panel beater sourced a hot shell and i ended up with a half built car that i had to chase down though auctions :( ...that was worse than the crash i recon...

just a mention

Sorry to hear about this. I've had my share of accidents and they truely suck arse. At least no one was hurt and that really is the main thing. Were you able to drive it home afterwards? Too bad about not being insured - that truely sucks. I've had some driver training and the thing the instructor told me is to just hit the animal if they are small. It sounds harsh I know but he listed heaps of examples where people have been seriously injured or worse because someone tried to avoid a small animal. Sorry - I'm aware that hindsight advice is worth very little.

Believe me, your one off killing of one of Australia's native animals is nothing at all compared to the number that are killed by semis ever day. Definately hit it. At worst you will need a new front bumper, bonnet and windscreen.

and cooler, sump, and if your unlucky sway bar and xmember...

I wanted this rolling shell just as a project but I couldn't justify having two cars. It's real nice and the guy selling it will probably do a bit better price because it's been for sale for ever. Interior is a bit though.

Sorry to hear about the crash, damn random animals!

Rather all that then putting it down a hill or into some trees. Much more riskier swerving at speed than just braking & taking the impact you get, even if you are going slower to be on the safe side.

I wrecked the first car I owned in a similar situation. Swerved for a friggen cat. I'll never make that mistake again. Glad no one got hurt though. Real bummer on the insurance though. It's illegal in the US to drive without insurance (at least in the state I live in). Even then, unless you have full coverage, they wouldn't cover you here unless you actually hit the animal. I ended up having to give my car away (long story). At least you can salvage all your important bits. Best of luck finding a replacement.

And it should be exactly the same here.

Anyone who can't afford insurance sure as hell can't afford to pay for the damage they cause with their fantastic skills, or lack thereof.

i hope that comment wasn't directed at me mate. I made a simple error in judgement...i would have had insurance any other day of the week but my mate really needed to get somewhere so i had no choice.

pics real soon. just about to go take em. Looks alot better than it actually is as i have since sprayed the bare metal with black spray paint primer type stuff. looks good as new lol. i shouldnt be laughing but what can ya do ey.

The car, the damages etc... can, at some expense or another, be replaced.

Your life and that of the passenger you were carrying is not.

Of course it was farked up, sad, disturbing etc, but hey - mabye God took all of the above from you as a price for your life. With the rest of your life ahead of you, do you really think you cannot earn the above again?

Chin up bro, it was meant to be... luckily you're a live.

Some pics would be good just so that we can appreciate the extend of the damaged.

    • Yep that's pretty much what I want to see. Racecars that look and sound like the Group A but with newer tech underneath to make them faster and safer. I'm sure there's enough VK-to-VN commodore, E30 BMWs and Foxbody mustangs shells around to make up a decent number of cars with hopefully a couple of sierras, rx7 and R31s in there too.
    • Contact Jessestreeter.com/Skevas Racing/JustJap for a new r34 rb gearbox or go a cd00# conversion. No point playing with unknown condition gearboxes.
    • Such a shame places like Amaroo Park have been redeveloped, smaller tracks always make for good racing. Cheers for sharing @PranK there's some good Lakeside video's too. Its so hard with older the cars as parts are so rare and everything was made for a particular chassis at that point in time. Even the V8 Supercar Blueprint era cars are all different between each chassis within a team as they learnt things and made improvements. The COTF cars between each Chassis builder is different too especially motor/oil systems/intakes. The Group A stuff is worth so much too especially chassis with good history. The only way to do it would be composite panels and similar engine drivelines to the original cars. Ford sierra running Focus RS driveline, Commodore running a short stroke LS/LT or a Falcon with coyote and a H Pattern dog box. Could use a standard ecu across all models with a Torque Map and DBW for parity which is not even used in Supercars currently. Hell a TCM is almost a full chassis car these days and the suspension is not even close to standard style in the front running cars.
    • Dashcams Australia (13/05/25) captured JDMHSE (Vic plate) being a right tosser.
    • Wish someone would start a racing series for Group A replica cars, a bit like Touring Car Masters but for 1985 onwards and not grandpa's falcon and/or Monaro. I know they race in some historic class but that's for original cars, no replicas allowed.
