Hey guys, just wanted to share my experience in installing some coilovers today.

I did it with the help of a mate who installed a set of Teins on his pulsar recently. Big thanks to ya Peter

Coilovers are used Kei Office TE. I've always been a fan of Tsuchiya and his coilovers a top notch, made in his own factory in japan and heavily R&D'd.

TE model means base model with no damper adjustment, made to be very similar to stock suspension with height adjustment.

My car came with worn out Nismo damper adjustable shocks and springs. It had a rattle in the left rear, cant say how good it feels to get rid of the rattle. It also "whispered" where I would hear the dampers working over bumps, it sounds like ppl whispering in the back seat, it was hell annoying

The coilovers also made it a really good ride, when I braked hard on the worn Nimso's the car would pitch forward and then back, these don't, and it gives a nice firm ride with very nice dampening.

Anyway heres some pics from today

Very happy with the results :)

Just want to say thanks to wtf-33R for the wheels and 33KLR for the coilovers

What do you think?

Cheers!

LOL

you would have liked our first attempt at the front then. Had no idea where to adjust it to so we tried the middle. Turns out the front bar was 3cm off the ground and the front wheel was tucked under by about a cm.

I need it to be practical my driveway is shit and I'm sick of repairing the front bar hehe

Hey thanks guys!

I got it aligned on Sunday morning at Bob Jane. It was only $66 for all four wheels, that was pretty sweet. It cost like $90 a year ago when I last did it at the same place.

Its all aligned, and the rears have correct camber and toe, as does the front right. Front left is cambered 1.5 deg adn they couldnt correct it. I might get a camber kit if I get really bad tyre wear on it.

Yeah i read about the show and shine it looks like its going to be huge! I'll try to make it!

    • yeah I've never understood that either.... And to answer an earlier question, I write the date on open bottles and throw them if more than 12 months old (which they almost always are, because I don't need to bleed them unless I'm changing lines/calipers etc in between)
    • Nah, the one that hit the boot was a big steel locker, around 6 foot height, 4 foot wide and 2 foot deep, empty it weighs about 15kg and had about that amount of stuff in it The photo didn't give a good representation of the actual damage, the large ding on the passenger side was about a inch deep, the one on the driver was about 1/2 inch deep, right on the curve, where the inner boot frame doesn't let you get behind it with a dolly Basically the same issue with getting behind the damage on the centre of the boot We could have filled it all with bog, but my OCD would be triggered every time I looked at it, knowing what hides beneath  As for the locker, I did get the shits with it and put it in the scap metal bin, but, I pulled it out and it is now sitting in the garage at home full of car servicing stuff, cleaning gear and random tools, it's going to pay for it's indiscretions
    • Whilst I typically don't cheap out on things, if I can save some money, like $1000, on a clean straight panel, that gives me $1000 to spend on other stuff, basically free money really 🤔 🤣
    • Is the toolbox that damaged the boot seal the same item that fell on the car during the storm a while back?
    • Who are you to deny yourself? I’ve said this many times to myself and apart from getting what I really want, I go quiet for a while whilst working out what I just did to my savings and how will I afford what it cost, then, next payday…
