at 200kmh something 100 meters up the road jumps in front of u and ur f*ked.....what going flatout in 5th in a twin turbo and didnt realise u were speeding....

And if something jumps in front of you 5 metres up the road and you are doing 20 you'll still hit them. Quick ban all cars.

At 200km there is no chance to stop at 20km there is fair enough chance you will in time. That type of response is very immature and a disgrace to the skyline community, you wonder why cops give us heat.

Will all the immature twats please grow up or don't post to further damage the public perception on skylines and skyline drivers.

Be warry cops do read our forums.

18yo shouldn't be allowed to drive GT-R's (or supras, rx7's, soarers etc).

The flood of imports over the last few years has opened a pandora's box with p-platers, because they now have acces to cheap and VERY fast hi-performance cars that they shouldn't be allowed to drive when they are so inexperienced on the public roads.

that guys car should be confiscated permanently.

It makes you wonder how in touch with reality the insurance companies are when they will insure a p-plater with a rocket like a GT-R (or atleast just car insurance), which in stock form would hose any of our so-called aussie performace cars. where's the bloody consistency here? that kid shoudn't have been driving such a powerful vehicle to begin with.

its funny how many skylines crash with p platers behind the wheel vrs commos on back roads in country australia... think bout that one would be interesting to hear the stats.. obviously more commos but they crash

Can i punch him in the face...can i? can i? please..

farken take his car away from him stupid twat. and with you girlfriend...in traffic>????!! what would happen when he head covering a pole he might have hit, what happens when he looks over and realises what he has done.

as for not realising.....farken...farken,...

i agree. in particular, a GTR is not a car you can get in and know how to drive straight away. the back end steps out suddenly, the power comes on extremely fast and in a non-lonear way. its a real handful of a car to drive at first, luckily i have done some basic defensive driving with AAMI (which is by no means an advanced driver's course) and that helped me avoid a few sticky situations when i first got my GTR.

Definately not a good first car to let a p-plater drive.

in victoria justcars will insure a p plater with a gtr or r33 or some illegal car because there theory is, the car might be driven in other states where its not illegal seems the policy covers all of australia... They also said the car might be kept in the garage until your off your p's and youd need insurance on it while its sitting there.

i asked em once :P

im sure most of us have done some where near that speed at some point or another! hes obviously still growing up, i used to go racing down streets at over 180km/h in my first skyline, i dont any more, i lost my liscence 3 times for various things, but cant be too harsh on him, yes its stupid, but we all make mistakes and need to learn from them

i personally think that any p plater that has a high performance car only really has it for "showing off" purposes. and dont really appreciate the true value of the car and proberly never will.

all p platers should have to learn to drive in 4 cyclinder cars, then drive a 6 cyclinder under supervision for a while. they need to learn to drive properly. i like the way the nsw laws are i hope they bring them to adelaide cause there are some real d***head p platers out there that need a kick up the arse

quote:

"hey also said the car might be kept in the garage until your off your p's and youd need insurance on it while its sitting there."

cause thats really gonna happen (not baggen you out justin911!!) cause if you were to get the car when you first get your p's thats like 2 years that a car is gonna be sitting in a garage....really anybody wouldnt be able to help themselves, and what to take the thing out for a drive

Yeah, but you won't kill them in that situation. On a modern car, with its pedestrian impact design, there's a good chance you won't even break their legs.

That's the spin-doctor, sugar-coated reason for public consumption.

In reality, its more profiteering. The policy states that your insurance is null and void "If the driver of your car was not licensed or authorised to drive it" (in the case of Just Car).

Now, these policy documents are freely available on the Internet for you to peruse before you sign up so there can't be any claims of misleading information before the P plater signed up. Since they're not authorised to drive it, it means should they crash in their home town (and by rego laws the car has to be in their state of residence for the vast majority of the year) they don't have to cover it.

That means the premium the insurance money gets is practically risk-free money. They'll have to cover damage-while-unattended and theft on a Comprehensive policy, but that's it. They don't even have to pay out CTP, since it also has the same clauses.

As we all know, insurance companies are the first to take your money and the last to give it back. So of course they'll offer to cover practically anyone (and I'm sure the customer service pleb on the phone will mention "subject to the terms in our PDS / Policy documentation") and take their premium.....but just wait until they have to go around trying to make a claim.

You're kidding, right? The idiot did 200km/hr down a busy f**king street, weaving through traffic. That's not just "youthful excess". That's f**king stupid.

I don't think that you can be harsh enough on someone who's apparently mature, and wilfully chooses to endanger other people's lives like that. Yeah I've done some pretty big speeds before, and some of it on public roads, as have quite a few of us, but even in my most foolish days I wouldn't do it in a populated area with bystanders around.

Even if you're a sociopath who doesn't give a flying f**k about the lives of other people, you can replace the word "bystanders" with "witnesses" and you've just put your ability to drive at risk. Doing over double the speed limit is sure to get someone calling the cops and reporting you, which means you get shat on by the legal system and have them take your license away from you.

If he's "still growing up" rather than "having grown up", then maybe he shouldn't be driving until he gets out of the former and into the latter.

Theres some fast as f**k 4cyl cars out there. Also some dog ass slow 6cyl ones. I don't think thats a good idea. In the US there is no limitation on what kind of car you can own, no matter what your age is. I live way out in the boonies, but the majority of accidents here are caused by drunk drivers (which is FAR worse than what this kid did). Most of the kids around here drive shitters, or Neon's (still a shitter). I see more accidents from college age kids, than from new drivers.

Seeing how I'm a P-Plater, I find it quite offensive from what some people have said about "us" P-platers.

Most of my friends, whom drive, are hopeless shits, they randomly run into things, EVERYWHERE! No matter what car.

Now, I've owned a 5speed commo, own my R33 GTS-t, and also own a MK3 GA70 Twin turbo Supra, and not once have I been fined for stupid or dangerous driving, not once have I had an accident. Not ONE incident on my record.

Now it's not to say I haven't been over the limit, hell, I'll tell you now that I have, but I've NEVER done it with other people around like this moron.

I know of a 30year old who does those sorts of speeds. It's not just P-platers.

Do NOT ban high performance cars, Ban low performance drivers.

Now, I agree, this guy should loose his car, out and out right now for his actions. But, unfortunately, the legal system sees it differently.

Also, as for getting "A 4 cylinder"

Have a look at the WRX, Silvias, etc, even some of the 4cylinder hondas can get moving bloody fast. The newer celicas can run a 15second 1/4 FFS. Now that's bloody quick, quicker then my old 5speed commo!

So you can't just say, "Let them drive X car"

Cause hey, a P-plater can modify a car, as long as it's not an engine performance mod.

Hell, change diffs, you'll be screaming around then!

Don't jump to conclusions.

Seems alot of people are getting very hyped by the media, who are VERY one sided.

Hell, maybe he was in a rush to take his G/F to the hospital for something life threatening, and he "didn't realise/know" he was going so fast (Not making excuses up for him, but hell, you only hear part of the story, the side to make him sound bad!)

And for the record, I'd probably push my car pretty damn hard if someone was in a life threatening situation (Needing medical help etc)

I agree with you there mate, but he didn't mention i he was going anywhere in the article, so we are assuming he was doin it cause he could.

I myself have done excessive speed, and i wont vote for anyone who says they haven't, but along a busy street.....weaving cars....it might get his girl excited but what about Malcom stumbling across the crossing after having a good night at the pub...
