Hey guys, im new here.

Its about a month till i turn 18 so i sat down with the parentals and discussed something that had been on my mind for a long time, a skyline :laughing-smiley-014:

a good mate of dad can get them low k's, Imported from japan and fully complienced for about 12g

as i am going for my p's on the 6th of july. the new laws that come in on the 1st are a massive slap in the face and means i cant have a turbo.

so i guess i am just asking for opinions on if a non turbo r33 will still be a fun car to drive around in and about how much does a nice full body kit cost?

thanks for your help

yeh mate in same situation, but i have my license for a year (i turned 18 yesterday) so a turbo for me

as for NA 33s my mate has one and as the first car its f**king awesome u will have loads of fun

i been looking at getting a fresh import (i dont have connections/dads mates) and i cant afford it, so im looking at a 2nd time low ks good condition (i have about 13k)

in sydney, you can't drive a car with any performance modifications on your p's, but i think that hinges on when you got your license. dont know if it's the same in melbourne. personally i got bored of a stock r33gtst's power very quickly (neva drove an N/A)

bodykit's vary alot in pricing, but I found on average your looking at around 1-1.5k for a full bodykit, and that's not having it painted and fitted (about 700)

thanks for the replies guys

the reason i wanna import is because its a way of insuring low miles and a good condition engine.

and as for the supra, i don't think a 2 seater will really suit my lifestyle. i plan to be driving passengers around most of the time.

A Skyline has only bit more room than a Supra so if you wanna have 4 ppl in the car quiet often it's not really a smart choice. Go for a sedan like a Chaser (just remember wit NA the more displacement the better). If you really want a Skyline there is nothing wrong with a NA R33. Its a good stepping stone to a turbo Skyline.

ps. Who ever said a NA Supra can beat a gtst is misinformed. i have driven 2 NA Supras and there is no way they will keep up with a gtst. Stock for stock a R32 gtst will even beat it.

i would say since you are going to be driving with passengers......have you thought of a 4 door skyline......they all look Fcuking awesome to me mate......NA skyline they are ok.....Body Kits are generally around the 1-2K mark painted......btw if you have a skyline, you are guarenteed to have fun in it no matter NA or Turbo

lol why do u want to drive people around? it makes it less enjoyable to drive a good car. I used to drive drunk fcukers around all the time when I used to drive the honda accord - decided that the next car I get is a 2 door so that I cant carry anyone else apart from the front seat passenger....Mostly dont even drive anyone else around cept for the odd occasion. If you wanna carry passengers around, then yeah 4 door gts is the one you want......

There's always going to be a lot of "Turbo or Nothing" naysayers around here, but what it comes down to is this:

Unless you're doing something seriously wrong, all skylines make great cars to drive. For the price bracket and your requirements (non turbo) you'd be hard pressed to find a better overall car.

As for importing, unless you can guarantee that those low k's are real, I'd look somewhere closer to home first.

oh, and 4 doors ftw :)

you said you will get your P's when the new laws are in place after the !st july right??

You do know that there are more laws then just turbo and N/A ...

You will have curfews and you cant have any more then 1 passanger on your first year P's etc....

Look into it alot more .... you will be very very restricted

naa man, i miss out on the passanger restrictions n curfue. the only thing they have implimented is high performance changes and learner changes. normal p plate rules apply for the rest. belive me i researched.

p.s vicroads website is crap for finding info about it
