I've changed my mind.. Next drag meet I want to run the RB20DET i'm going to slap her on the dyno and find the sweet spot with boost and timing. Maybe 16psi and 20degree's not sure.. :) Should be able to hit 170rwkw if all goes well and hopefully in to the 13's with my cheapo simex tyres.

Problem is the clutch doesn't like launches with the simex tyres and slips when I click second. :)

No prob's Iv. Happy to help out mate :P

Felt sorry for you big time mate :P 1 full pass (that was a total right-off) & then the CV letting go. Better luck next time.

......anyone else?

I WILL be running this time Matt.

I want to see what I can real off with the stock RB20DET.

I was talking to Tim a few days ago and he was telling me that Microtech are releasing a L16 I think it was that had provision for traction control, knock sensor closed loop etc.. :uh-huh:

it does not have 400kw at the wheels( around 340 i think), and it dosent matter how much power you have if you cant get to the ground you dont go fast. After the engine there is a clutch, gearbox, diff and tyres all of these need to be 100% to get a good time.

Hippy,

I think you'll find Martin's Soarer was closer to 350rwkw on Elf Turbomax fuel. The 120+mph terminal speed on one of the earlier less troublesome passes is a good indication it has MUCH more in it. I say, "less troublesome", as Simon didn't get one clean pass. Good burnouts though :P

Oh yeah, Martin's Soarer would weight near on 1700kg with a driver onboard. 120+mph on an very average pass pulling 1700kg is about what I'd expect for 350rwkw.

Clint,

Hehe, Yeah true :D I actually asked Martin, "how he felt about someone else thrashing his car?" He had faith in Simon's ability to keep everything together.

The Soarer's 'box had already been rebuilt sometime ago (was a feature in HPI or Zoom). The 1JZGTE Soarer 5sp box is a POS according to those in the know. The 2JZGTE Getrag (sp?) is a faaar better box.

    • I'll tell her I put in a new air filter on it, which, it would have anyway with the ITB's In the end she isn't to fussed, she spends lots of money on hair, nails, make-up and all the other "required" beauty products that women use, plus I grease the wheels with shiny gifts and holidays wherever and whenever I can She once questioned my car spending "budget", but after itemising everything she spends on herself, and what I spend on her, and the fact that I don't care if she does or doesn't wear make-up and fancy pants perfume, or requires new outfits for every wedding, funeral or anything else she deems worthy, and I'm quite happy to go "real" camping, instead of staying in hotels or jaunts on cruise ships, she decided not to press the subject on how I spend funds, and has never asked "how much did that cost" again, so a win to me And how often can you say you really get a win with the fairer sex? She is a good woman, and in the big picture, I'm really lucky.....that she hasn't killed me yet
    • What will you do when the Minister of War and Finance says the intake noises are too loud?
    • Will the clear coat dissolve the ink tho?? I thought about clear vinyl tape too. Thinking what to do haha. The one I have now is cracked in 1 spot, otherwise mint. Plus the MINES one is much thicker plastic material so its not flimsy at all.
    • No. Go a different colour, and just trim it at an edge line. Even manufacturers do different panels different colours etc.
    • I see no real downsides to ITB's, apart from the initial cost of my drive in drive out lifestyle, the "upsides" is they sound cool and would add lots of smiles I am willing to pay to play for the extra smiles I've spent the morning googling and youtubing the BBR ITB's, a "little" extra power and throttle response, but alot more dort, and really, I'm only really in it for the dort Who knows, after all this money is spent I might even make 150kwatw....LOL
