Hi

I'm trying to register my newly acquired 1990 R32 and just got few issues with QLD Transport

The car was imported privately by previous owner, but I will be the 1st owner to register.

Car got complied with the Mod/Blue Plate with code L01 Aust Design Rules Comp.

1st issue no year stamp on the car's plates (jap and mod/comliance plate)

2nd Need import paperwork

now what import paper work do I need to provide? I called the previous owner and he said he'll get the people who complied it to email me a copy.

Now is this copy acceptable or do I need the original papers?

*note I'll post this in the QLD section for reference

please advice

Thanks in advance

you will need the import approval,

the yellow modification certificate that accompianies the blue mod plate in the engine bay

what other documents do you already have? where are you located? I know that some QLD transport offices are much more relaxed when it comes to newly registered imports.

went to Macgregor Transport centre

I dont have any of the papers yet, I'll be getting the compliance cert today and import approval via email...

this is what Im worried about if they'll accept this copy

In NSW you also need a weighbridge ticket, and CTP insurance in hard copy.

The centre simply take a photocopy anyway, so I'm guessing the copy SHOULD suffice. I have always had the original though, so I can't be 100% sure.

I have never been to MacGregor. I know that Woodridge have a rep for being the easiest to pass.. and the people are quite familiar with imports... many other places have no idea what they're looking for.

In QLD you don't need a weighbridge ticket, but yes, you will need to apply for CTP from say suncorp or RACQ BEFORE you go to QLD transport.

Also you will need a current Safety Certificate...

If you have the safety cert and CTP and the registration application form FULLY filled out, you can drive the car to the inspection centre... but only directly there. You will need to rego the car the SAME day as the CTP is written... I know with suncorp, you can change the original once only, then you need to cancel that CTP form, and get another one. (You will get a refund for the cancelled one, but it just takes time.)

Do you have the safety cert/ organised CTP yet?

Would dotars re-send a copy of the import approval document? Still looking for one of the pages to get the car registered but in a worst case scenario situation, would they re-send the papers?

The vehicle is approved and everything.

Yeah they usually will if you confirm ownership with them. I've done it before, no hassles.

    • The cam I am actually putting in (a few posts up) is actually smaller than my current one. At least duration/overlap wise. All the chop stuff I hear just sounds like an engine running badly, because it is. I then envision driving it around in 1st gear and being massively sad about it bucking to the beat of said chop. There is an idle video of someone with a similar cam floating around the internet, but mine is a custom cam (so is his) so it'll never be the same, plus the fact exhausts are entirely different. What I want to do is put some bullet mufflers/race mufflers in to replace a couple sections straight pipes that currently replace the two extra cats that I don't need. But this is even further down the line!
    • I can tell you now, when the bracket that the little hydraulic ram attaches to snaps, with a subframe, and V8 from an AMG C63 on it, it sounds like someone letting shotgun off right beside you. It leaves your ears ringing, and a huge thankfulness that you never ever put a body part under something heavy that's only supported by a hydraulic lift...
    • Still not a guarantee fix. I used a high quality butyl-mastiq (the black goo that's not really silicone nor polyurethane, same stuff they use from the factory that just spreads out like melty cheese), and I still get lots of water on both sides of the trunk when raining or washing the car. I also suspect the factory spoiler rubber gasket might not be sealing well, so I'm thinking of adding a thin layer of grey silicone around the bolt holes on both sides and see if that's where it also leaks from. The biggest issue is that these cars don't come with a drain hole on each side like other coupes and hatchbacks.
    • I hate it, but maybe he could paint it Monster jam style and call it...godzilla?
    • Would seem to me to be appropriate to go GTR style bar. There are options with and without N1 vent holes, with the GTR lower lip integral (because FG copy). https://justjap.com/search?q=r32 bumper
