Duplicolor Mirage Paint

Anyone tried this stuff? Bonza or crap? Know who sells it around Coolangatta?

Tried ebay? I did a quick search, but didnt find anything.

I believe i was going to buy some from http://www.gimmecarparts.com.au but ended up finding some at Autobarn.

Cool. I'm going past Autobarn this morning so I'll check. What did you paint with it and how did it come out?

I saw some comments on the DupliColor site (US) which said it didn't work as well as it was supposed to. Other guys seemed rapt.

I did my callipers, came out AWESOME.

Metalcast base coat, which was a silver colour

Metalcast Blue Anodised paint.

The number of coats makes a big difference. I did two coats on my first calliper. On my next i think i did 4 or 5, and it came out a lot smoother, thicker, and shiney. The thinner 2-coat job looked more metallic and sparkley.

Found out Autobarn in Tweed don't deal with Dupli Colour but Auto One does.

Mind you teh Metalcast looks kinda flash too. Might use "Smoke" colour on a set of rims.

You should be able to get your local autobarn to order it in for you.

What are you using the multicolour Mirage for? Its expensive stuff!!

Woz thinking about maybe rims and a few bit and pieces. Sorta decided Mirage rims might not be so good on a standard looking car though.

Would look like a rat with a gold tooth. Better suited to a show car. Currently thinking the Metalcast Smoke would be a good thing. Car is standard burgundy colour (whatever Nissan call it). Rims are white, which aint a good look on a dark red car.

Update: found out the Metalcast "Smoke" and the Mirage series of paints are not currently imported into Australia. The distributor has no plans to bring them in. CBF'ed basically. So I thought to meself "Fu(k you clowns" and went higher up the food chain. If anyone is interested in any of the Dupli-Color products that aren't available in Oz send me a PM.
