I always remember someone telling me about how the lower class/poor/uneducated/unintelligent [delete whichever is inapplicable] have large families while the other end of society have on average 1.5 kids.

The theory is that humanity is spiralling downwards because over time our collective average intelligence is abrogated - being 'watered down'.
