an easy out is not an option, you have been told the reasons behind this already

welding anything to the tip of it is near impossible so thats out of the question

only real option is to drop the sump, which cant be done in the car. atleast with the sump off if there are any small fragments released after its tapped out they can be contained saving you having to rebuild/buy anouther motor if anything does happen to fall out and find its way into your bearings/oil pump/head

its your choice take your mechanics word
