i was very close to asking the same question about the screech on start up but i figured it was something to do with the starter loose belts or something but car runs perfect so not to much to worry about appart from been embarrased when you turn you car on and people turn and look to see what that F#*king noise is :\

hmmmm what is "easy outs" stagea girl? is that the slide hammer? mmm the welding aye hmmm i danno how i would go about welding it atm aye :? like it doesn't stick out too much maybe 2-3 mm so yeah :action-smiley-069: mmm i don't wanna take sump off atm so yeah hehe

cheers

they are high tensile reverse drill bits...

You can buy them at bunnings amongst the drill bits in the tool section. Have a read on the packet on how to use them before you decide which way to go.

I'd personally drain the oil, take off the sump and hammer out the plug, which was what Mitch was going to do, but never got around to doing.

If you've already drained the oil and put 5ltrs in, your levels should be fine.

yeah i would think its fine but mitchy didn't give me the turbo to manifold gasket....adn its leaking oil so im not sure .... hmmm but yeah i might take the sump off as that is the most effiecient way is to put it on a hoist etc but aye i don't think the drilling will work as i have NFI how long the stud is aye hmmm haha but ne other ideas from ne other peeps :action-smiley-069: this is giving me a mass headache

for the love of crumbcake, don't go and buy easy outs and try to use them if you have never done it before. If you snap one off you will never ever ever get it out. Ask your mechanic do do it , that way if he snaps one off then its his problem. It doesn't matter how long the obstruction is, easy outs are designed to work in a blind hole, so it should be OK, but they really aren't a tool for beginners.

if you are worried about it, just put a big dob of wheel bearing grease or trefolex (cutting lubricant for thread cutting) around the neck of the dipstick tube and dont drill all the way through it. If the obstruction is only 6mm in diameter, you will only need to drill about 6MM min depth anyway and the grease/trefolex will catch all the crap that comes out.

Hey Chi,

I can't remember my password for MSN so can't sign in..

Sounds like your mechanic doesn't know what he's doing.

You bolted up the old turbo without gaskets? That would be why its leaking oil!

If you buy new gaskets from NISSAN, and bolt up the new turbo (cause the old one will blow a shit load of smoke on high boost and has shaft play) everything will run sweet, providing your mechanic knows what he is doing.

I can vouch that the motor never leaked oil. The only oil it did leak was from the power steering pump lines (he crushed them putting the motor in lol).. I hate oil on driveways and blasted mitch when the power steering started to leak.. So if the motor is leaking oil now, I'd check to make sure all bolts are tightened to the correct torque and all gaskets are new.

If your mechanic doesn't know what to do with the dipstick, take it to Top Racing and get them to do it.

Better to be safe then sorry.

Kylie :P

nah mechanic knows where its leaking oil from :P and no he dind't bolt the turbo on we jsut used ur old one to see but ill put the new on tomorow  hehe cheers kylie mmm top racing i did take it there looks like their goin to take and arm anda leg off me to do the little studd  heeh so i might as well take teh sump off one day...yeah..its leaking oil from the turbo im just bit angry cause its all over myd rive way :D and i can't check oil levels so kinda scared teh engien is liek goin to starve from oil ;)

cheers

nah its no ones fault...dw guys i think illjust spend a few more hunjie and get the sump out and bash the stud out but i just want a alternative way b4 i take out the sump adn the drilling methods sound too unreliable...due ot the fact that i don't know how long the stud....and yeah my mech is actually really qualified...he is willing to take the stud out ne way i want him to but am i ready to take the risk? lol i would get him to drill it but how the risk factors is too big atm...mmm AD4M if its that simple wanna come over and give me a hand :P hehe

Cheers

how can i reusing a old gasket cause the turbo to leak oil? i've reuse gasket before with no issue as long as it looks half ok you will be fine but if u need new gasket from manifold to turbo ive got one brand new laying around u can have like for nothing lol :P

also be careful about the issue with the dipstick, dont want to get crap into engine and it goes bye bye ;)

If you need a hand i come around and help dude just not this week or nxt (got uni exam :D) but once im free i can come help, i got a few tools which can help lol

ohh u park near me at tafe today lol  i like the wing did u cut it?

edit - maybe ask for some help from the person you bought the engine off? did they tell you it was missing?

hey why is this all turning off topic...i dont' care who's a godo mech and crap one...all i care about is getting the stud out...the turbo mitchy did leave me with the good one ...its my bad for not bolting it on we inspected the old one that was on there was usable...but we jsut had it on there to test it....leaking oil was the turbo drain ok that all soughted...cmon guys calm the horsies....itsnot a big prob the turbo leaking thing the only thin gthat is big is the stud...i mean i don't mind getting it out just don't wanna pay an arm and a leg for it...mitchy isn't a bad guy i believe...i bought the motor FMIC and teins off him...so ther ya go....hmm my mechanic is a full qualified mech....so yeah he know what hes doin...but im trying to seek an alternate way is by coming on this forums...skylines arnt shite...don't get angry peeps i just want some personal opinions...not have a biatch fit...so now the options are drill the thing out with easy outs, hammer it in adn do an oil drain, or take sump off thast it? lol ne more opinions are welcome :P but cmon guys mitchys good lad...if the engine was farked i believe also he won't sell it ot me...my mech is qualifed at the end of the day thats all but ne other ways in takin the stud out? if not thats all good well thats my rant for the day sorry to get peeps involved but i was really in desperate of some info on how to take stud out....but i got it...thread can be closed to stop everyone from just goin off topic sorry mitch that i got u into the shite....n also to my mech sorry dudes maybe my like explaining of the problem wasn't too clear therefor peeps just went off topic but aye both good lads so just leave it form there aye?
