after a boring old service (new oil and plugs) all of a sudden I was having nasty power loss in 2nd and higher gears at over 5,500rpm....basically it all just disappeard. Check for boost leaks, intake leaks, loose plugs etc etc nothing wrong.

And the car is dead standard.

Anyway, the guys at UAS sorted it out for me (thumbs up)

afrs...check out the before

stagea_dyno_afr.jpg

boost on this one 7-8psi

stagea_dyno_boost.jpg

basically even on 7psi the car was hitting the fuel cut (or R&R to keep Gary and his fans happy :woot: )

Very strange outcome, and a strangely healthy stagea.....146rwkw (not a 4wd dyno) even through an autobox, 115,000klm. Basically just added a fuel cut defender as a temporary solution until the manual box and powerfc go in.

BTW I haven't done much with RB25s before, but I did used to have a 33gtst which was also *nearly* standard....was running 10psi boost and making about 170rwkw.....interestingly we never hit the fuel cut in that so the stagea auto ECU is definately different and less tolerant than the gtst manual one.

but why is it hitting R&R?

Aren't you worried that the boost cut defender is just hiding a bigger problem?

Or, maybe it is just crap fuel?

Interesting......

damn straight....I am intrigued and one of the reasons for posting is to see if anyone else has had this problem at stock boost? where is the extra airflow coming from that is tipping it over the edge? is my AFM just dying? why so much power from a standard car with no boost?

these are the mysteries to be answered.

it has always used an extraordinary amount of fuel - and the dyno graph showed why, it was running richer than 10:1 at some times which is outrageous. It used 2 1/2 tanks on a recent trip from Mel to Syd!

hey man .. I had a VERY similar problem , mine was linked to a dodgy AFM

want to see my graphs?

PM if you do .. I need to go back and have a further gander at those dyno graphs

so your telling is that the jagged line was it cutting fuel?

AAAH ! ok now I geddit!

one is a BEFORE run ( red line ) and one is the after line ( blue )

would have been good to have it on 2 different graphs to see what the before power peaked at

( I know I can just read it off the graph but I am Le Lazy )

Last year i took the stag in for a dyno run to check the air fuel ratio, just was expecting about 120rwk. Ended up with a big shock when the first 2 runs produced 148rwk then 149rwk with the afr 14.5 dropping to about 12.5 on boost.

After a chat they went and checked the dyno was set correct and did a 3rd run which came to a total of 152.8rwk on stock boost.

Since then i have found out it is running a R34 GTT smic but thats the only thing not standard on the car

lol right here....so...do you like stuff?

your last post was right there are 2 runs before and after.

I have an s2 runs 12psi puts out 208awhp or for those who are in a world of kwts its 156kwrhp

so far over the 1/4 14.84 but there is alot to come just need to able stall up on the line i think its good for 14.2 atleast !

I just saw this and thought it might be interesting to compare, it is from the Series 1 workshop manual:

BTW if anyone could tell me where abouts in the workshop manual is the wiring diagram for the fuel pump I would be forever in your debt, not being able to understand any japanese, means I am hopeing that I find a page with the picture of the fuel pump on it, hopefully.........
