Nice work, what sort of LCD are you running?

I admire people who spend the time making their carputer look custom. I personally wouldnt do it, because i like being able to easily remove and upgrade/change things if they break.

ditto....before i would consider an install like this, i'd have to source a spare centre console surround, so i KNEW i could revert to stock if need be.

My dash souround wasnt perfect to begin with clips broken and scratched up so it didnt bother me cutting it up.

If i want to go back to standard i will just buy a new one.

The wiring in my dash was pritty dodged up so im gonna enjoy redoing the lot.

The screen seams pritty good so far. wasn't a real cheap one either but if i hjave problems i will buy a nice expensive one.

With a bit of paint it should look pritty good.

BTW im in perth and its the only small patch of grass at the house so its easy to keep green :action-smiley-069:

got the screen from here http://www.phoenixitd.com.au/products/carpc.html

If you dont want to cut up your dash they have a motorized one

Very Nice! Great job.

I have the same screen setup in my 'line.

Would lke to know more about how this plastic welding stuff works.

I've secured mine in a complicated way from the inside of the console.

Pics should be in a post titled "GTR carputer" or similar

Regarding reliabilty - I've had mine since October '06 - no complaints so far

Yours looks really good.

I was going to make a mount and not cut up my dash but i always wanted tomodify a dash like i have done.

Was alot of fun.

The plastic weld is an epoxy i got from a auto shop. if it dosnt hold i will properly plastic weld it in

    • Meh. Every single gear in my gearbox will crunch. I've been treating it nicely for >12 years now.
    • How fast are you doing the downshift? 4th gear was revised multiple times until 1998 to fix this issue. Synchro clips can fall out, synchros can wear. Most likely you're looking at a new transmission unfortunately. If you need to limp it until then double clutch downshifts into 4th.
    • Sorry I was being harsh there, but am I wrong? You can buy a M340i easily, and there's loads available second hand. A lot more workshops modifying them as well. How about getting parts for them? Don't get me wrong, I'd love a 400R, even a 4cyl (I looked at a few V36s before buying my shitbox BMW). Sadly Infiniti died in Aus and we're stuck with importing them as niche vehicles. Supply and demand
    • Probably straight swap for an R32 GT-R? lol
