Hi,

I have just pulled the gearbox out of my r33 gts-t so i can install a new clutch however i cant get the bolts undone on the fly wheel so i can go get it machined, has anyone got any tips?

The car is in the garage up on car ramps so i dont have a whole heap of room to move a crack bar...

I have tried using an impact driver but still no luck..

On all my previous cars i have been able to get the flywheel off, but this one just wont budge...

If anyone can help it would be great.

Thanks,

Scotty.

no trick to it mate, they are just tight. If you dont have a ring gear stopper just put a bolt back in and use a pry bar in the flyhweel teeth to hold it, then biggest breaker bar you can find.

can you get the car up any higher?

Some people recommend that you hit the flywheel bolts with a hammer, then try the breaker bar again. I used the approach on the three stuck bolts on my car and it worked, but i'm still not sure its a good idea...

Tapping the bolts with a hammer is a good move on anything, wont damage anything. One firm 'tap' can ungrip any threads that have started to bond which would otherwise make it extremely hard to get loose with just a breaker bar.

Thanks for your help guys,

Since the rain has finaly stoped i have been able to get back to working on the car.

I did get the flywheel off, i ended up giving the bolts a good "tap" with a hammer and used a longer breaker bar.

Although i will be replacing the bolts as 3 of them have started to twist at the head.

Thanks,

Scotty
