Cheap Vs Expensive Catch Cans

i was gonna buy a greddy catch a few months back didn't really want to dish out $150+, is there much difference if i buy an $80

would something like this do the job as opposed to the expensive greddy can

also what does type 1 and type 2 mean?

as far as i can tell i dont believe there would be any difference in quality due to brand names, purely because it has such a simple job...

...dont quote me on that cos its not like ive checked every single type.

i have installed (but havent actaully had the car running yet) a catch can from just jap and its all good. sealed up fine and the like. just a drain bolt that came with it was the wrong size. cost me about 50c from a bolt joint to get the right size.

EDIT: looks like the difference in type 1 and 2 is the catch can shape. so that just comes down to preference and what you could fit best in your engine bay.

there are a few out there that have small openings on the fittings. they can cause the head to pressurise from the lack of sufficient ventilation causing a few oil problems.

If you get one with a removable top, then remove it and check inside before installing. my cheapie had to be cleaned up inside.

considering you can make one out of a plastic coke bottle there isn't much to them.

The cheap ones are chrome plated usually and this will come off over time. Also the oil level fittings are prone to leak.
