1080i is the same resolution as 1080p, but each scan only updates half the number of lines, so it takes 2 passes on a 1080i instead of one on a 1080p to change a frame.

haha no vtec sadly. the gun metal grey XBR will be out here soon too. It's about $400 extra over the X series. only difference is gun metal alloy surround instead of black plastic surround and it apparently has better built in speakers (which I'm sure no one would use anyway). GMG TV is tha shit yo.

actually i just saw my mate's 46" X Series tonight with the white surround... he has it against a feature wall and it looks kinda ghey. droolworthy picture quality tho.

yeah the new X series and XBR are where it's at. they wont be released in aus until some time in october though. some sony central stores will already have 40" models now though.
