Hey all,

I've been driving a S14 200sx for nearly three years.

The last 12 months the services have become a bit dearer and the car has broken down randomly.

There are heaps of little things to fix, insurance is a bitch, petrol is expensive and I can't get out to a track to have some fun

Do you think I'm better off getting this car?

Peugot 306 Xsi

Im hoping to sell the 200sx for around $13,000. - its done 131,000 km.

With this Peugeot, do you think that it would be possible to put on a light duty tow-bar (to tow box trailers with a go-kart)? Im after something thats a bit more fuel efficient, has abs + airbags, easier to insure and cheaper to run.

Anyones feedback is much appreciated.

Cheers

never!!! i just sold my crappy fwd and now am a very happy man, if you must sell your car consider a non turbo import 4 door then at least you will have a nice car that is good on fuel, insurance and ur wallet plus still have fun driving it.

Pug sounds like a pit for money too

I'm thinking a 323 hatch now. Cheap, reliable, fuel efficient.

Basically I'm after something that has an airbag, does NOT use much fuel (7L/100k avg), and is cheap to run, is relatively new, and is no more than $13k

323 is looking good

You think an S14 breaking down randomly is a PITA.

Try any euro car and it quickly becomes a way of life......................what you save on fuel you will spend on repairs.

If you want economy, stick to asian or domestic [which is asian witha badge change], its pretty much an undisputed fact.

Go and buy the Dogs and Lemons book for around $30 and read up about your Peugot/s, its not just me saying this, its also written there in black and white by people that have or can draw on a wealth of experience!!!

man if you want reliability, good build and a well designed car get a corolla.

it should never die.

but dont get a pug! my mate went from a S15 to a 206 rally or something..... idiot! he did for the same reasons as you, Insurance. But he still wanted some speed, why not get the sportivo corolla?

why dont you look at getting a import non turbo, theyre around the same price, most of them are cheap to insure and they have better looks than whats available domestically

Yeah 323 would be a better option IMO.

I have a 94 model astina and its been great as a run around. Cheap on fuel, heaps reliable, and loads better build quality inside than other comparably priced second hand small cars.

we always stick with hondas when it comes to just normal cars. Our honda accord is now 22 years old, and the honda civic is 25 years old....still going - but only now are starting to show their age.

Gonna trade both in to get a new jazz - that i expect will run well for the next 15 years atleast

european cars - as the others have said - its just too costly to run (i think the pug also uses premium fuel)

euro cars cost a motza to service... full stop $700 for a full service at 60k yeah expensive! wait till 90-100k :| brakes also expensive and also tyres hard to aquire..

Had a 325, 330 and C3 and M3 I vote an aussie car i.e echo or some shit
