i can understand how they don't want people in the way, as they obviously take it seriously and yer, if every tom dick and whoever was wandering around there touching stuff thats not a great thing.. A bit of the secrecy side of exact setups again, maybe fair enough. Still, at a public meet you have to expect curiosity and people are going to look and wanna see stuff.

The whole "booked track" thing I don't think anybody was aware of - I mean SAU was only about 1/10 of the other cars running around on the track yesterday so well it wasn't just us.

If something was organised, i am sure you could have had a much more agreeable situation.. If 20 cars were there in addition to your car(s) then i am sure we could have worked something out, and if all the other cars were bothering you there then you could have made it just invite only (even if it cost more) and YOU set the rules - i am sure then there would be a lot less problems..

p.s. don't forget RH9 and GTR700 are different cars with different crews i believe.. they were just sharing the same shed

Both cars are the same crew. CRD runs both cars - only the drivers are different. We are all the same team.

We could have locked the gates and turned people away - but it wouldn't have been the right thing to do for the track owners, so we bit the bullet and said we'd work around it.

Like with everything, we now have typical dickheads on forums whinging and sprouting their bullshit with no knowledge of the facts.

The most amusing thing is that when I was asked if I objected, one of the reasons we allowed the test and tune to go ahead was that Russell told me that some Skylines club was coming down. In future (thanks to comments made by the likes of Sniffy) - I'll make sure that I never bother again.

GOOD!

Because the attitude that was shown was quite poor.

I'd much prefer to be at a track where there are semi sociable people there to talk to. No fun racing all on your lonesome anyhow lol.

And we were only at the track because you 'LET US' ???

NEXT TIME, Don't let us. I don't think anyone will feel hard done by.

blah, come on guys, lets not get into a childish shitfight over it..

it was a good day.. i mean that didn't really effect any of it for me. If they don't want people around they don't want people round - they've obviously got the money to do it, and different goals to us so let them.

I was happy to actually see GTR700 run in their goal of bettering their already best 4WD ET in Australia. Even if they didn't have the best day, and were a bit rude to us, seeing it run is an experience itself...

I am sorry you have this feeling Mario, about not letting people enter to see you car run again, I think you will loose a lot of supporters by doing this, but if this is what you want so be it. I think you need some sort of PR guy working with you to keep the crowd happy but also keep the security tight. I have been following your build up of GTR700 over the years and if it were to happen, would cease the following.

With your attitude I don't think anyone on here gives a sh!t if they see your car next time on the track or not. Save everyone the headache, including your self...

Been working on the pics i shot on sunday...i have a program that resizes the images, which can do all of them at the same time at the selected resolution. Problem is the quality of the photos comes out shit. Anyone have a program that can do this with adjustable image quality. Please PM me. Would like to get these images up soon, but went about 2gb over my limit on my internet connection, next month start on 8th so might wait till then. But still would like a decent program, atleast a name of it would be nice to pm me.

Cheers Rob

JAG,

We booked the track way before the test and tune - therefore it was OUR track for the day - to do with as we pleased.

If some dumb shits on this forum can't understand that, it isn't my problem - if such a situation arises ever again, I just won't hesitate to say "No, screw 'em - we had it booked first".

As for all the smartasses on this forum, your 'support' won't be missed - I am not here to please bogans and dole bludgers (you know who you are...)

mario, the gtr 700 was great to see, i for one am always intrigued to c such lovely skylines do what u did in it, but fark, u guys gotta pull ya heads in..to start with, that rh9 thing, SELL THE FKN PLATES..u ran a 12 and then the guy who showed me attitude got changed and shut it down 4 the day...

2nd, how much have u spend on those cars...i mean i know people who would have spent less then 30% of wot u have, full street trim, none of this attitude stuff, and still run those times..and they r everyday cars

3rd, i know people who have 8sec cars, and they r always happy to welcome u in and talk to ya, 4 fark sake, i was at calder when the kapiris bros ran a 6...and i was allowed to stand at the edge of the garage...

some1 from the club takes 1 peak in, from SAU none the less, and u knew we were all from there...and ya jump up and act like your all part of michael schumachers ferarri pit crew....

sad it had to come to this, cos we really loved to c those cars there and share a common interest...but when u acted the way most of the crew did..its no wonder no1 here gives a toss anymore, and if u aint got a fan base...wot do u have...

1 more thing...if i had all the money that u obviuosly do...and such potential in those great cars...id make a mental note to myself to bring a fkn gear knob and a driver that doesnt turn a 10sec car with rh9 plates into a 12sec car...;)

dont get me wrong, i dont wanna have a go or have any bad feelings towards u or ya crew...cos its obviuos u really know ya stuff as u showed with the gtr 700...but if we r intruding (which i dont think any1 did) u can just say guys we r real busy at the mo...can u let us get this stuff ready...and we would oblige..but when ya walk straight up and say get out, and start shutting the door in some1s face...when u know we were there from sau and to c u guys...and then come ask for a gearknob for ya car and remain to call us rude pricks...it dont sit well

there r guys from here that have cars that will beat that rh9, especially when runnin high 10s and 12s...and they r some of the nicest guys around...and i bet u would feel angry if u wanted to take a photo or 2 of their cars and they told yd to get F**KED!

Mario & team, i respect that all the effort/blood/sweat & tears that has gone into the cars. Ever since I found you web site sometime ago I have dreaming seeing that car and the components (other than the videos) and even learning something from you and your team, thoe I myself would never have a chance or the money to ever construct a car with so much power. Since Sunday i have learned nothing from you or your team, except that the attitudes and actions of your team were unacceptable and exceptionally rude & arrogant. Your cars a dream for most of us, I respected your cars & team until I met them. Now I just don’t give a fcuk, I rather talk to people who have 15+ sec cars; at least we respect each other and our ideas, and can remember each others names for more than a 1 second, some of your team can’t. You Mario seem like a decent guy but I also say you can’t judge a book by its cover. I could write a whole page on this but I don’t want to say anymore. Personally I love my car, I respect my friends and people that I have met in the forums and outside of it, I have respect for all there options and action & compliments, but I don’t care or respect people who think they are all high an mighty & that have the money, and that wont even consider an idea or option for a second. Your car is a legend and something too look up to by a lot of people, but hopefully once your fans meet your team they will realize like me and won’t give a fcuk anymore. We respect you why don’t you respect us in the same way. Also for some of your team; what goes around, comes around...Remember that.

Thanks

Rob

heer' heer'

there r teams out there who r quicker, better etc etc

but im sure u prob know some of them and deal with them...make u think ey...i bet they dont shut doors in ya face...oh wait...maybe they would...

and im sure if some teams spent that much money etc etc on and on u get the point...

keep it real :P

Could not car less, about your cars anymore. My friends got a gtt r34 rekon it's a mad car dosent run 9 or nothin dont even want to. It's a nice car, and a nice person to go with it, its a less common car, he could just be a prick.."oh oh i got a r34 it's the best car in the world r33 suck dcik" he is nothing like that top bloke, good idea and respectable opinions, the r34 is also something for me to get/purchase in the future.

    • For anyone interested, the Way Back Machine has that Japanese website archived with pictures, etc: https://web.archive.org/web/20051023225805fw_/http://www.a31cefiro.com/air_con.htm "Simply swapping the wiring of the harness will not allow it to function properly. For the outdoor air sensor and sunlight sensor, disconnect the wiring connected to CN1-11 of the air conditioning harness from the harness and connect the sensor side wiring to earth. For the indoor air sensor, disconnect the wiring connected to CN2-3 of the air conditioning harness from the harness and connect the sensor side wiring to earth. The connector PIN numbers listed here are the genuine A31 PIN numbers. To avoid incorrect wiring, check with a tester before wiring. Also, disconnect the wiring in a location close to the sensor. The disconnected harness side wiring will not be used, so be sure to insulate it." Wish someone sold a conversion harness to just plug-and-play a Kouki 180sx digital climate control into C33/A31. I'm decent with wiring but feeling kinda lazy about taking this on. Edit: Did some more digging and found a helpful Minkara blog post about the conversion as well: https://minkara.carview.co.jp/userid/1831116/car/1360568/2284209/note.aspx "After installation is complete or the battery is replaced, you need to go into self-diagnosis mode and set the internal air recirculation. The way to do it is to "hold OFF with the key on for more than 5 seconds, set the number to 5, then press 卍→C." ↑↑↑It probably won't make sense unless you actually try it (・∀・)." Lol wtf

    • Well, yeah, the RB26 is definitely that far off the mark. From a pure technology point of view it is closer to the engines of the 60s than it is to the engines of the last 10 years. There is absolutely nothing special about an RB26 that wasn't present in engines going all the way back to the 60s, except probably the four valve head. The bottom end is just bog standard Japanese stuff. The head is nothing special. Celicas in the 70s were the same thing, in 4cyl 2 valve form. The ITBs are nothing special when you consider that the same Celicas had twin Solexes on them, and so had throttle plates in the exact same place. There's no variable valve timing, no variable inlet manifold, which even other RBs had either before the 26 came out or shortly afterward. The ECU is pretty rude and crude. The only things it has going for it are that the physical structure was pretty bloody tough for a mass produced engine, the twin-turbos and ITBs made for a bit of uniqueness against the competition (and even Toyota were ahead on the twin turbs thing, weren't they?) and the electronic controls and measuring devices (ie, AFMs, CAS, etc) were good enough to make it run well. Oh, and it sounds better than almost anything else, ever. The VR38 is absolutely halfway between the RB generation and the current generation, so it definitely has a massive increase in the sophistication of the electronics, allowing for a lot more dynamic optimisation of mapping. Then there's things like metal treatments and other coatings on things, adoption of variable cam stuff, and a bunch of other little improvements that mean it has to be a better thing than the RB26. But I otherwise agree with you that it is approximately the same thing as a 26. But, skip forward another 10 years from that engine and then the things that I mentioned in previous post come out to play. High compression, massively sophisticated computers, direct injection, clever measuring sensors, etc etc. They are the real difference between trying to make big power with a 26 and trying to make big power with a S/B50/54 (or whatever the preferred BMW engine of the week is).
