Hi ppls:

Just had coil over in me car, me ride is now so bumpy that giving me a headache, anyone got them in their car?

What heigh should i have as at the moment i got the front pretty low and the back is still a bit higher than the front but still lower than before. What softness should i set for the back cos Melb roads...well you all know what's it like.

Having it too stiff or have it soft? which does better for the car for take off, connering?

Anyone? Oh another thing is is there a place that selll special spanner or what ever that is to adjust the heigh as i want to do it myself, don't want to take them to work shop cos $$$ is an issue.

Thanks.;)

my suspension is set pretty hard.... and yeah its nice and bumpy and rough! ;) i like it that way... had to drive the daewoo into work tonight and was scared cause it was almost like it was floating and just felt like crap... hated it compared to my line

the hardness is a combination of your shocks and springs i beleive. not much you can really do to fix it.

with height adjust.. the tools are pretty $$, but i know of a few people on the forums who have made their own for about $15. Last time I was in ricebarn, we were looking at the HKS catalogue, and they were 9,800 yen for a set of 2 from japan..

I also have height and damper adjustable coil-overs, and on the softest setting it is still very stiff! (i wouldn't have it any other way :P)

If i turn up a steepish drive way, i get some three wheel motion happening, with one of my rear wheels spinning freely about 1-3 inches off the road :P.

If you'd like we could meet up and compare ride comfort.

What brand are they? Mine are TEIN or OFFICE one of the two.

What is D-Day, can you please fill me in?

Yeah i looked at getting coilovers as well... but as it's my daily driver i was put off by the rough ride. I'd be keen to see what others have and what the ride is like. I've got potenza shocks (dunno what springs) and it's quite nice. But when i give the car a sharp turn there is some body roll. And the car needs to be lowered some more! I'll be getting some new springs to bring it down a bit and also reduce the body roll, but still keeping some comfort... any recommendations?

    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
    • So, now all you need to do is connect the 2 or 3x 12v feeds into the unit to permanent 12v, ACC 12V and IGN 12V that you can find in the spot behind the stereo, and the earth, and then it will switch on with the car.
