Hey guys i was wondering as above if i should start an online wreckers, where every part i have is individually listed with with photos and detailed decription.

I have recently brought large quantities of import parts from wreckers that have closed there doors and simular. I have heaps of parts from panels. engines, coils, interrior parts, engine parts, body kit components.

Obviously should it take off i will sponsor SAU.

The idea is basically everything on-line, giving you condition, price, postage. From there you purchase, i recieve the orders and send the items straight out to your door (as i have just secured a reasonable freight contract).

Whilst not giving the stock away most of it will be sold at well below wrecker prices and as i say you will be able to view the items a reasonably detaild description of there condition, and freight to your door.

I have already purchased a domain and set up a shopping system, but want to know if anyone thinks this is worthwhile continuing the little hobby. I am not a proper wrecker or anything, this is all a sideline hobby, but i have over commited myself buying all the parts i have in recent times.

This is something that at times i wish was avaliable for 2nd hand parts, and need your feedback!

Cheers Webber

Just throw it up on Ebay as everybody already knows about ebay and all the payment and listing stuff is already taken care of. Would beat setting up a whole new domain/website whilst trying to get traffic to it.

did you buy stuff from that auction site a couple of weeks ago?

haha, thats what i was thinking. Grabbed all the parts that RENEW was selling through Grays auctions eh? Was gonna do i myself but cbf driving to dandenong and no car to chuck 10 bonnets for $9 into :D

LOL. Yeah i did buy 2 truck loads from Renew, but there stuff wasn't that great, i have brought a few lots from different places, i am actaully just looking into bringing in my first 40Ft container of just parts and engines.

Yeah honestly i am sick of paying E-bay fees, for using there customer base. At this point i don't owe any money on the parts i have, so i honestly don't care if i have 40 or 50k sitting in my sheds if i can sponsor here and get it to take off i don't care how long it takes.

interloper lol.. $9... i spent over $10k from renew alone. lol..

R31Nismoid ..pfft abn! nothing like a little on the side cash until his on his feet then get an abn...

if ur starting out why would u get ur assed taxed..sell as much as u can tax free and if its working and making you consist money then get urself an abn, until then cash cash cash

it will be good experience in any case - just to see how a business can be run. I myself am starting my own online business - but at the moment im doing research into the market to see if its feasible (so far so good), and then I have to do a lot of running around to check which importers will be willing to do business with me - and that means i have to set up relevant documentation proving to them that there is a market for the products that i wish to sell.

Its nothing to do with cars btw :)

So yeah, i say go for it. You learn a fair bit, you make a bit of money and you may even have something that could be a main business instead of a side business. I suppose you already know the target areas so you can work on advertising etc. But as i said, its a learning curve, so just have fun and see how far you can go with it.

Yeah thanks for the reply's guys. As i say at this point it is all a hobby, i can't see me making over $50k a year, and if it hit that point, i would be getting an ABN and making a full go of it and make a crust from it rather as a sideline.

As for the Soarer bonnets, Hoang pulled a heap of lots out that didn't make reserve, they were one of them. Some of the stuff after the auction that hadn't been sold he was still trying to cram top dollar onto. (some of which i brought but most was still to expensive).

Someone had about half the Renew factory put into a container.. was that you?

Photos/descriptions of every individual part is a lot of work. I don't think you know how much work you're getting yourself into! Too many tyre kickers etc anyway.
