Hello everyone,

And also can any1 recommend what brand to get or where to get them in a better price?

One more thing.... which is better... 6000k, 8000k, 10000k or 12000k?

Xenon is stock in r34 .. its just changed for complience... if you can get the stock setup would be even better doubt it will melt anything halogen would more so than hID purple would be 12,000

as DECIM8 mentioned, R34 GTT headlights are made for Xenon. Beside this though, HID kits run on 35W instead of 55W or more, so you wont have any issues with heat, as they are not as hot as filament bulbs. If you can get your hands on the stock Xenons, this would be the best bet, as the R34 headlight optics are designed for the D2R Xenon bulbs not the H1 filament bulbs that they put in with compliance.

If its too much trouble to get the factory xenons put back, then you would want to stay away from colours higher than 6000K, as the higher you go the less bright it is and it gets too blue/purple and you will be a magnet for cops. The 6000K colour seems to be the most prefered for people as its a white light with a tinge of blue.

If you go lower in K, like 4100K-4500K, this is what the R34 originally has, and even the BMW, Audi, S2000 etc, and the light is pure white with no blue. The reason you see blue/purple at certain times on the Audi or BMW cars with factory Xenons is because of the projector lens. The light isnt purple/blue, but white (around 4100K-4300K). It only looks blue/purple on the edges of the projection of light, and so thats why when its far away and the edge of the beam passes your line of sight, it looks purple/blue, but when the car comes up close the light is white. You wont be able to get this effect with the R34 as it doesnt use projector lights, it uses reflectors. Also, not all projector lens give out that blue/purple look at the edge of the light projection.

cheers

If you plan on getting an HID kit, don't get anything higher than 6000k. In my opinion, don't get 6000k either. I've got them and they're way too blue. If I were to buy a kit again, I would definately get 4300k. Most people get 6000k, but I think it's too blue. What BATMBL said about the blue-ish light from the Audi's is correct. It all from the projectors.

Hey man, HID is a complete conversion kit for your lights... just a quick explanation

your exsisting halogen lights have a tungsten(?) fillament which converts electricity to high heat, causing the fillament to glow and emit light which is reflected off from your headlights onto the road, much like a household globe.

HID lighting is a completely different form of lighting, there is no fillament whatsoever, just the glass and highly compressed gas, much like a fluro light only a lot more compressed. this is why when you flick on HID's they take a few seconds to light up, because the gas molecules need a few seconds to vibrate and emit light...

in lames terms, your HID lights use little to no heat, because there is no heat being used... only gas!

...I think that's how HID's work anyway... seems to be like that on my cefiro! I have 6000K and i have projectors and i get full sunshine light spectrum...

I love it, if you go HID you will NEVER EVER look back, it's so amazing coming from a cefiro where the lights are so dull to being able to see the reflectors of signs light up at about a kilometre away...

I got mine fitted and supplied by J-shop in Perth, $220 for the kit $80 for fitment and aiming of lights, the $80 included a one year warranty on them

you can buy a set off them for $220... www.jshop.com.au

    • My stuff is all with Shannon's, granted, I don't really have imports I'm driving on the road, however, I've had multiple cars at the same time with them. Presently we have the Landcruiser on laid up cover, Sarah's Kluger on full cover, and the house insured. About 18 months ago Sarah wrote her Subaru Liberty GTB off, insured with Shannon's, and the payout, and buy back of the wreck was super quick. In 2020 we had the VF Commodore totalled in a major hailstorm. Storm was on the Saturday, I called on the Sunday and lodged it, vehicle was towed on Tuesday night, assessment team called on Wednesday to say it was a total loss and get payout details, money was in the bank on Thursday morning. Have had a few other claims both at fault, and not at fault, over the years, and never had an issue with them.   Funnily enough, they're also the cheapest insurer I find for things like Sarah's Kluger.   I will say I'm less impressed dealing with them lately around "the experience", as a lot of their staff that you deal with aren't car enthusiasts. Shannon's has a much more main stream feel ever since they decided to become "big corporate", laid a heap of staff off, and then hired a bunch of non enthusiasts. At the same time they've been making a push to be less "call us and we'll personally have someone who cares help" to "hey, this computer can do stuff for you" and are trying to get more square pegs to fit round holes. (That's just the vibe I get from them). Again, have had no issues with claims with them, but get a bit of a "less personal" feel from them.
    • A thing I wasn’t happy with with enthusiast was during the initial phone call they told me they’d insure it for 130k but needed photos.   I then sent them photos and they told me $80k as there were other cars either similar modifications available for around that price, I told them to send me the links to said cars so that I can buy them. i then sent the modification list with prices of the parts (no labor) and the price then came to 115k, which is still shy of the 130 that was agreed in the initial phone call
    • Ask me a bit later this week before payday
    • I agree that delayed payment probably isn't the most suitable solution. It seems a solid complete transaction would be best. As I wouldn't be using this sale as a line of credit that would typically earn interest, we can probably arrange a much cleaner single transaction deal. I can do $92.52 today. Would you prefer EFT, or Cash on Pickup?  😛
    • Oh man what a deal.... Funny enough (well not really) I sold a car to some old dude (buying for his Daughter) on a Saturday, He asked if she could take the car now and pay me the money on Monday as the bank wasn't open. Needless to say I told them to come back with the cash or get f**ked! Luckily the money seemed to magically appear in his pocket a few minutes later, so it all ended well (for me).
