Rust....common Problem?

I was playing around with my car the other night, and have noticed that I am beginning to get rust bubbles under the 2 side mirrors.... is this a common issue, or have I just been unlucky?

Obviously, I will have it fixed as soon as funds allow, but if there is a well known cause, I would like to take care of it to prevent the issue arising again. It just seems a strange place to get rust......

Yeah very common, I havent heard of anyone who hasnt got a tiny bit of rust there yet.

Yeah do a bit of a search, last answer to the issue was sand it all off and respray door, easy.

ive got the rust under both mirrors...... need to do something about it soon, cant see it being cheap tho (silky snow pearl white with the special clear overcoat)

got mine fixed for about $1000, but unfortunately they couldnt match the white pearl very well, they claimed they were unable to duplicate the process nissan used to achieve the white pearl, ended up respraying doors bonnet and 1/4 panels.

I got a litle bit under RHS, bit of killrust

I think nearly every car I've owned has had a place where a design "misconception" has led to a potential for rust to develop. Every RMR30 Hatch had a rust problem in the LHS of the hatch. The Fiat 850 Sports Coupe used to rust to buggery over the headlights.
