As recommended by the brakes sticky i got some R33 rotors machined down 6mm for my S2 Turbo.

I have found that these DO NOT fit. They sit too far back and rub against the caliper so do not buy them unless you feel like grinding the caliper away, which i am going to do over the weekend. I would recommend going with the genuine items from Nissan or upgrading the calipers.

Have also found that DB1398 pads may fit S2 stageas as well. Will be investigating this option.

If anyone has fitted R33 rotors to an S2 could you please let me know how you got on?

Pretty peeved at the moment having spent about $450 for no gain as yet.

Oh well thats the life of a stag.

I've heard this happy to one of my friend's S1 as well. Potentially it can be dangerous as they rub they will slowly break away preventing sudden stoppage-effectiveness.

Good luck - got pics of your calipers?

The car is an S2, so S2 calipers. DB1398 appear to be the fitment although i have a different brand of pad from japan.

Heres some pics of the gear. The new disc fouls on the back side against the top outside edge of the caliper support.

I think the recommendation should be removed from the brakes sticky but i dunno whether that will happen.

DO you have a pic of where they are hitting, or can you draw up some tricky paint picture? If the rotor is not sitting in the centre of the caliper you can just space it out with some shims, if the disc is too wide in diamter, machine it down a bit more?

Hey there. Ive hacked up an image of where it contacts. Its rubbing on the back side edge of the disc against the caliper support. I think the offset is different to the standard disc and i think the disc might be a bit wider as well so im having my doubts as to whether these are going to work at all.

Im going to see if i can fit the new disc and new pads in the caliper tomorrow. If i can get that to work i think i will see if the disc sits in the centre of the caliper. If it does i will grind the caliper support a bit. If its not centred then i may look into getting spacers.

If the new gear doesnt fit in the caliper then i think i will throw in the towel and have an expensive set of paper weights, im expecting this and after spending about $450 on discs and machining im pretty pissed off about it to be honest, only myself to blame for relying on the internet i guess.

Moral of the story so far is dont trust internet forums to give you the correct parts fitments.

Circled is the contact area.

Righto. Had a bit of a play around today. The R33 rotors will not fit at all without a 5mm spacer behind the rotor. Im not sure if this is dodgy or what. Also i believe the R33 rotor is wider at 30mm when the original rotor appears to be 28mm. So even with a spacer you would need the pads machined down to fit in the caliper.

On the upside i managed to fit new brake pads no worries. S2 pads are the ones in the link below, which are db1398s:

I managed to get a hold of KASHIYAMA [ D1231M ] and they are a perfect fit.

$400 door stops, yay!!

joe, id advise going genuine or getting a hold of some specific rotors from japan, i think there is anything available in nz or aus for our cars.

The dimensions I was given for the front rotors for an S2 Stagea were off an RS4. I have fitted the R33GTST rotors to an S2 RS4 and they fit perfectly (after machining down the 6 mm of course). So I can only assume that the RS-V is different. The way to confirm this is to measure the standard RS-V rotors.

These are the dimensions of the RS4 front rotor (R33GTST in brackets);

OD = 290 mm (296 mm)

New height = 54 mm (54 mm)

New rotor thickness = 28 mm (30 mm)

Minimum thickness = 26 mm (28 mm)

Centre hole ID= 68 mm (68 mm)

Studs = 5 (5)

Obviously the dimension in question is the height (ie; 54 mm).

It is worth mention that ALL R32's, R33's, R34's (including Brembo equipped ones) plus S14's and S15's come with front rotors of 54 mm height.

There was sufficient room (with the pistons fully retracted in the callipers) to fit the Bendix brake padss, ie; the extra 1 mm of rotor thickness (each side), was not an issue.

:D cheers :rofl:

The car is an S2, so S2 calipers. DB1398 appear to be the fitment although i have a different brand of pad from japan.

Heres some pics of the gear. The new disc fouls on the back side against the top outside edge of the caliper support.

I think the recommendation should be removed from the brakes sticky but i dunno whether that will happen.

dont Series 1 use DB1398?

perhaps S2 RWD stagea's use S1 AWD brakes?

what size are the S1 stag rotors, 280mm? if so, that S13 disc would be a perfect fit..

however, i have some yellow R33 GTS-T calipers that would suit your car perfectly. :thumbsup:

The 2WD and AWD Stageas have different front suspension layouts, so could this be a factor? Maybe the front brakes are also different between the 2WD and AWD models.

anyone wanna buy some s2 rs4 slotted rotors? :]

Hmm... i'm a bit lost with this, so this WILL fit a Series 2 RS4? And you have a RS-V which require different sized rotors? If these do fit I might definitely be interested. Any difference with front and rear rotors?

    • I have offset Nismo brackets so the fact the gktechs can pivot is less important to me. I have 170mm JIC arms with bushings - but they provide no adjustment and I'm not sure whiteline eccentric bushings will fit them (I don't want to ruin the bushings currently in them to find out). Ideally I want something with bushings + adjustment; hence why I'd like to find a pair of these. Unfortunately they aren't easy to find.
    • @Vee37 How much do you really care about finding these pads again? If your pads are quiet, work well and produce minimal dust, really isn't that enough? If you are set on finding the exact pads again, I suppose I'd do something like this -  Visit your local Jax, find out what brand of pads they carry. If the Jax workshop you previously went to had the pads on the shelf, then you can almost guarantee it will be of said brand.   I'm guessing you don't have the receipt for the previous work and pads. Can you visit a Jax workshop and see if they can look up your previous job to see what pads were fitted?  Still no luck? Put your stalker hat on, find the staff that used to work at the Jax store and ask them. Talk to local workshops, try to find out where the mechanics went to. Talk to Jax workshops, maybe they relocated to another workshop. When it comes to mechanics, its a small world. You'd be surprised how easy it is to track someone down. If these ideas don't work, shit will start getting crazy very quickly.... You could find out every brand and model of pad that fits that car... and try them individually ticking each off the list if it wasn't the one you were looking for.... If you go down this path your going to want to learn how to swap pads yourself, it is very easy, takes minimal tools and space. If you have room to park the car you have room to swap the pads. Plus you have the advantage of making sure all the brake hardware goes back in so they won't squeal!
    • You miss spelled bearings...
    • Just putting it out there, that's a decent list. You would be better off *not* doing *any* of that and buying someone else's modded car. Like mine. Or anybody else's. Yes it's lotto dependent and all this and that but that 70K (remember, double your guesses) could go elsewhere. Keep it stock, save your money, go lowball @Dose Pipe Sutututu :p
    • Does not mean what you think it means. The continual rising coefficient is the coefficient of friction that continues to rise with increasing temperature. Not "rising during a single stop", except inasmuch as the brakes should get hotter during a single stop. The RR would not be the best choice for a streeter. Yeah....no it's not. JAX would rummage around in the "shit pads we use for all shitboxen that come in here" and install those.
