Some ppl say to me that they would like to have a go at some of the stuff we do. So here is your chance.

Pitsworth is just past Toowoomba and is an excellent event to have a crack at. Off the start there is a good straight gets you up to about 4th gear. 1st turn is 2nd gear left, straight well into 3rd for a fast 3rd gear 90 deg left and a big back straight. 3rd corner is very similar to turn 2 and takes you into a spectator area. there is a chicane leading into a right hander just before the finish line. All in about 40 - 50 sec... I think.

All you need is he same basic gear, helmet, longs and a few other little things, fire ext, 2nd bonett catch and a third party ext for road reg cars. CAMS liscence is Level 2 Speed, same as drift.

They dont tend to mind if the car slides abit, esp corner exit, however if you are blatently drifting they will get grumpy, 1 guy i know lost his CAMS lic for 6 months for purpously and repeatedly drifting.

yeah i would be keen if SAU QLD ever got back into cams licensing, wouldn't mind giving the gatton street sprints a go as well.

i just can't justify paying for one club for social events (dyno, bbq, etc), and another club (SAU NSW? VIC?) for racing...

not to mention QR requires an AASA license...

that's like $200 and i'm not even racing yet.

Hmmm, you just enjoy punting about then. There are some good clubs out there that don't do the wanky dyno bbq my car is prettyer than yours bull. They go sprinting or racing and enjoy the car, the challenge and the atmosphear of grassroots motor sport or you will just have to be happy crusing the spit with all the other posers.

ahahaha... far from pouting. if anything i would like a combination of both - been trying to get some motorkhanas /skidpans happening with sau qld for a while.

i enquired with the MG club and Alfa Romeo club into doing hill climbs at Mt. Cotton and they politely said that they preferred a particular type of car for their club. we've just had one up at gympie (first in like 1.5 years???) and it was quite fun.

what i'm getting at is that i'd prefer one club to be able to do a range of activities rather than alienate myself to each particular club for each particular event. it's more a communal thing and the challenge of competing with other people with the same car and level of modifications to be able to really compare and brag.

Should enter considering i live close-by, how close are the walls? :)

It is a very open track as fay as street sprints go, and soft. The concrete walls are all covered by tyre walls and a fair way off the sides. There was also plenty of run off at turn 1 if you need to abort mission. It is a car friendly street track, as friendly as 1 can be anyway. Kind of like a tame Lion or Crocadile, you can pat it with catioun....but it will bite you if you be silly with it.

Seriously thinking about doing this after my good result in the wheels on wide bay.

I saw you but never got a chance to have a yak.

I saw the car, but i Didnt get to see you run. How did it all go???

I had a few probs on the Sunday, boost controler got stuck in learn mode and i could only get wastgate pressure, 7-8psi. My best time sunday was only 47.2, and was still good enough to win my class. Sat was better in the wet, sitting just in and around the top 10.

It would be goon to see you at Pitsworth, hope you can make it.

Yeah i was having boost problems as well. My AVCR kept reseting during my runs and droping back to 12psi as i have a HKS Actuator.

Saterday cautiously fun in the wet and went to bed in 8th outright and leading my class

Sunday was much faster but so was every one else. Did a 46.7 with a lock up in to the Hair pin i was trying to get a 45.**

Only got 2nd in class but around 20th outright. And seen as though most infront were open wheel, on full slicks or AWD i am happy with my result.

membership in CAMS car clubs varies alot and starts from around $40 frm clubs like Northern Districts Sporting Car Club , Holden Sporting Car Club (who don't actually have many holden members!), Surfers Paradise Auto Racing Club (SPARC) - if they're still going...

Holden Sporting Car Club, Gold Coast Tweed Motorsport Club, and Northern Districts & others hold lots of motorkhanas on grass and bitumen. ANd they're cheap events - from $30-$50 entry

MG Car Club run heaps of Hilclimbs and even intro days to encourage/teach new competitors. They're happy to have any type of car compete there. You don't need to hire the place for yourselves to get out there. I can understand them not wanting to hire their facility to a non-CAMS club like SAU.

Thee's lots of other motorsport out there too - street sprints, QLD SuperSprint series (huge fun!), dirt sprints & autocrosses on a smooth dirt track right next to QR/Willowbank - they're planning on sealing that next year I believe. And Sprints at Carnell (Stanthorpe) now too, which is a great little track. Plus there's road rallies with a few speed tests too which can be alot of fun.

But if you want to compete against other Skylines, it seems the only place that ever happens is QR - the planet's most boring motorsport venue. You don't need a CAMS licence for that - its AASA.

I've been competing for years and its very rare to see a skyline anywhere except QR.

pretty much spot on there, i have an aasa license and although i wont be a contender for top spot; i feel there's a lack of competitiveness and the only track that kinda gets a little technical is the sprint circuit.

i shall look into the hscc, someone has pointed me towards them before and suggested that i give motorkhanas a try.

I'd much rather drive another hour to get to an interesting track - you know, with corners and changes of elevation. and without those massive humps in the braking areas...

i thought darlington park was pretty sweet... shame you cant go there anymore, nor lakeside...

braking at the end of turn one (at QR) was scary with those bumps...

yeah, QR is in pretty ordinary condition. I bet it won't be long before the V8 teams are refusing to come back here. will be interesting to see what the driver say this weekend!

Morgan Park is only 2hrs from Brisbane and its a very good track - technical and challenging with a good variety of corners. I'm probably going to go out there next wednesday for a session in my new race car - get a feel for how it handles before the next hillclimb

I might enter Pittsworth too. A couple of bloke I know are running and I'd like to see how my new car goes against them.

morgan park is good....have they fixed the last turn onto the main straight now...it was in pretty average condition last time i was there. Very close to the concrete barrier...seen a few cars smash into that thing...nasty stuff.
