these are pics i was sent by a source in canada and they really do tell a very graphic story about Kubicas crash..

what is most amazing about these shots is that he managed to survive it because the car literally exploded into thousands of pieces upon impact with him strapped into it just like a bomb strapped to a suicidal maniacs chest...

if you look closely you will see his feet perilously close to getting severed as they were literally visible in the photo and coming out of the monocoque.

how he came away with only a sprained ankle is literally a miracle...

i dont see his legs anywhere near coming out of the monocoque

i didnt say legs. i said feet. You can see them poking out amongst all the twisted metal and carbon fiber.

in the second image if you look carefully you can see the Scott Speeds torro rosso in the background with him in a red top watching this accident happen right before his eyes..the BMW missed the red bull car by inches...

sorry i mis-read that as his legs coming out of the monocoque...

but gosh you're right - the last 2 pics have them right there dangling in full view!!!

nice pics!

If F1 cars didn't have so much downforce maybe his car would have just flown straight over the infield barrier instead of hitting it...

Maybe, I dont really think it's too likely though, he got airborne a fair way before the barier. Would've been horrible if he did clear the barier though...

But you can see the rear's aero effects after he hits the service road or what ever it was the car pops up, but then a moment later, the rear is slammed back into the ground while the front stays up.

Not really relevent but I thought it was interesting at how well the rear wing worked. :)

oh like that would have been any better for him...

instead of plowing into a wall head on at 300kph, he would have plowed into another oncoming car at 280..

makes sense to me! :D

One of the scariest parts for me is......look where his tyres are!

Seems like there is more work to do to secure the wheels to the body, There are 4 10kg missiles moving at 150mph there, could have hit a marshal, another driver or spectators.

On a lighter note though.....in the second pic, it actually looks like he is waving to Speed haha

Im of the same opinion Scotty with the wheels, only have to look back a few years ago with CHAMP car and the changes implemented after spectators dying from wheels going into the crowd from a crash!!!

Its amazing when a crash like this happens to show the strength of the cars to take the impact at those forces, id love to be part of R&D for an F1 team

    • Hi soviet_merlin, We appreciate your concern regarding this possibly being some sort of PR/Political hype, I assure you that is not the case, I wish we could claim something like that, but in this case, we merely reached out for comment on the basis of the outrage we too felt, as those heavily in the automotive industry. Ps. the original source in the social media post is CarExpert not CarExplore.    Best, CE.
    • Made a bit of a discovery, but while I was cruising, I randomly decided to test to see if it worked and it showed up on my IC7. The entire time I tested it before, I never thought to turn the ignition on. I only tested it with head lights turned on but with the ignition off. Huge oversight on my end. I’m a dummy. I know.
    • G'day all, I have drilled and tapped the hole for the relocation of the timing belt tensioner. That was straight forward. I'm unsure if I need to also put another hole for the smaller stud that the spring behind the tensioner catches on (this is how it seems to work in its original spot). Or do you not use the spring behind it and just torque it down? Thanks in advance, I did a search but couldn't find anything related and it doesn't mention it in the rb30det sau guide.
    • Hi All,  just thought I would provide an update as I know smooth (Matt) was on this forum from 2003.    my brother Matthew passed away end of may 2024 at the age of 41 from liver failure. I am not sure how many of his original team krazy friends are still on here or active but thought it reasonable to let the forum know.    if you have any photos or pictures it would be great if you could share them.    it took me a while to work out he was active on here.    thanks so much
