"Are you ready for two full days of events, great food, excellent location, a spot of wine and catching up with all our members – miss the extravaganza at your peril !!

The fun starts Saturday 26th July at the Twin Service stations at Paruna (just north of Ourimbah) at 10am with the Touring Road Event. During the day this will include a Hillclimb at Ringwood and the day’s competitive activities conclude at approx. 3pm after the sprint event at Cessnock Aerodrome."

This sounds like a great event. I believe Dan mentioned it at the meeting on sunday. All the information I have for the moment can be found on page 7 of the CAMS Tale Spin newsletter here.

I intend to do the Saturday events and then cruise back, missing the dinner.

I'll post more when it becomes available.

Who's keen?

ps. We'll all need Level 2S licenses or higher for these events.

Sounds good to me too. (and Kel, as always :P )

Dino, have you or Dan been in contact to get more info as it comes out?

Just a warning, we will probably require extinguisher in car and a bonnet tie down. Will need to see supplementary regulations to be sure.

They are just sorting out some details. It should only be a couple of days and the regs. and entry forms will be out.

Go here for the Safety Requirements. These are a bit tighter than the drive day standards and scrutineering is more in depth. :)

OK - this is cams requirements:

Compulsory vehicle and safety requirements include:

+ A secondary bonnet restraining device rope or strap is OK

+ A fire extinguisher I got one for about $50 from Race and Rally, mounted in bolt that holds back seat on - no holes required

+ A blue triangle indicating the position of the battery Either buy a sticker or just use blue electrical tape

+ Headlights covered with a transparent adhesive film (i.e. Contact) mmmm....i didn't do this one, if required the old cross of electrical tape over lights can do the trick

These can be applied to road going vehicles with a minimum of difficulty, and usually with no permanent modifications.

Competitors are required to wear:

+ Non-flammable clothing from neck to wrist to ankles

+ Helmet

+ And are recommended to wear motor sport specific gloves and shoes.

Basically the same as regular track day requirement for clothing

As Cams say, you can get the bonnet tie down and extinguisher in without having to modify the car, so its not as difficult as it may seem.

For the taping of headlights, I'll be using clear contact sheet cut to the shape of the headlights. For this event with a drive between the hillclimb and the sprint it'll save pulling the tape off and doing it again. :D

Bonkers,

The licence that Dino is talking about is a racing licence that Cams issue. cost is approx $90 I think. It is required for events that are run under/by Cams that have competition invloved.

For more info go to www.cams.com.au

Dan.

C'mon all, heres a great chance for the club to make an entrance into the CAMs scene.

Its got it all:

Cruise

Hillclimb at ringwood

Motorkhana (mini dorifto)

Big dinner

Wine tasing

Weekend in the hunter

and not to forget, the commemorative t-shirt :)

And as long as we get 4 cars entered (=8 people) we can go for the club prize.

So who else is in?

Hiya FLIP, it's just a matter of filling out the form (goto www.cams.com.au and click on Licenses) and sending of the money to Melbourne. However, there's probably not enough time between now and the weekend.

Come out to Eastern Creek on thursday instead (no cams license reqd). :D
