where to buy DEI thermal tape

hey guys this is a bit off topic but i am getting extractors soon for my RB25DE (non turbo) and was wondering if it would be a good idea to heat wrap or HPC coat them? or is it only an issue for you turbo guys?

also i have a mild steel hks cat back system and its coated in something on the outside, but i'm concerned about rust on the inside where water condenses, anyone know how to prevent this?

heat wrap works just as well.

The water condensation on the inside is unavoidable and normal. Try blowing up a piston ring and then the inside of the pipe will have a water resistant oil coating

Hotter Air is faster air... Faster air with extractors = better scavenging (sucking from other pots) providing you get a decent set of extractors.

I wonder if any one has ever HPC coated a whole exhaust? Would it mean, when everything is up to operating temp (exhaust gas heat transfer = almost none) the exhaust gas ‘should’ be travelling at a higher velocity near the rear of the exhaust compared to when the air is cooler due to the exhaust gas cooling (transferring heat to exhaust components)?!?!?!? Sounds kid of logical…

If gas in the rear of the exhaust slows down then isn't that causing some back pressure/resistance to flow for the exhaust gas leaving the turbo?

It would work well, just a little high on cost. Most ceramic coatings do not trap 100% of the heat or anywhere near it. Those that are close to this mark cost alot of money.

i just got myself some 2"by 6m wrapping for 50 bucks off the net. was surprised that it was just a roll of thick woven ribbon...then again i only payed 50bucks for it...haha. but yeah my mech/exhaust guy said that id have to bring my car back once in a while to tighten up the wires holding the wrappin cause of heat expading them. he also was talkin about the self adheasive wrapping thats maintenance free...but yeah im happy with the results. and for peeps wondering how much is needed for the front pipe, 6m is more than enough:D:D

Nope, as the exhaust get colder it shrinks, so it takes up less space and there is no back pressure:cheers:

Interesting. So the temperature changing the volume of air, is more prnounced then the slowing of gas with drop in themp?

This custom made to fit turbine blanket is inconel, and works pretty good...
