I'm posting this because it's an interesting event and CAMS keep sending me emails about it.

This is not an SAU event.

This is a CAMS event for L2S Licence holders of any CAMS affiliated club.

Date - 29th and 30th of September 2007

Cost - $1450 per team (So $242 each for a team of 6)

Web - http://www.6hourrelay.com.au

Team - 3-6 drivers

Minimum Lap time - 1m55.00 (So you must lap slower than this time)

Supp. Regs. - Click Here

As far as I can tell this event is a team event that any team with any car(s) can win, because it's an average speed thing. This event would suit anyone L2S holder keen to get a lot of laps under their belt at an awesome track like Phillip Island.

It would be cool to have team SAU, and I know there has been talk about this before from a few members.

I wont be doing this event, but I thought some of you might find it interesting.

How come Chris?

Team SAU: Yourself, Snowy, Jack, Aaron, JFK, Brisby, Matt, Ferni(Andrew), Anthony, John, Ray, etc

Come on guys, we'll have it in the bag!! :D

I would like to do this but i have NO P.I. experience, would need to practice first and learn how my car handles/drives :domokun:

Come on guys, Nick and i want to blow up someone elses engine!! :D

They make you clean it up afterwards..... :domokun:

I dont think it would be all that appealing to anyone who can go a lot faster than 1:55. Thats cruising speed for jack and aarons cars..

Yeah 1m55 just seems slow these days.

There is actually a penatly lap if you go faster than this.

Plus my car has issues handling more than 1 hot lap these days. The oil temps get way too hot. But I guess if I cruised around on street tyres I could possibly do 1m50 laps all day.

I dunno, I just thought this would suit some of you who just want to get some laps under your belt.

If it was an outright speed relay, then there would be more interest from jack, aaron, snowy, me etc.

With some short-shifting, and appropriate brake & tyre preservation, that would actually be a nice, comfortable laptime for Me.

Screw that, I wanna go fast ! :worship:

    • Hi soviet_merlin, We appreciate your concern regarding this possibly being some sort of PR/Political hype, I assure you that is not the case, I wish we could claim something like that, but in this case, we merely reached out for comment on the basis of the outrage we too felt, as those heavily in the automotive industry. Ps. the original source in the social media post is CarExpert not CarExplore.    Best, CE.
    • Made a bit of a discovery, but while I was cruising, I randomly decided to test to see if it worked and it showed up on my IC7. The entire time I tested it before, I never thought to turn the ignition on. I only tested it with head lights turned on but with the ignition off. Huge oversight on my end. I’m a dummy. I know.
    • G'day all, I have drilled and tapped the hole for the relocation of the timing belt tensioner. That was straight forward. I'm unsure if I need to also put another hole for the smaller stud that the spring behind the tensioner catches on (this is how it seems to work in its original spot). Or do you not use the spring behind it and just torque it down? Thanks in advance, I did a search but couldn't find anything related and it doesn't mention it in the rb30det sau guide.
    • Hi All,  just thought I would provide an update as I know smooth (Matt) was on this forum from 2003.    my brother Matthew passed away end of may 2024 at the age of 41 from liver failure. I am not sure how many of his original team krazy friends are still on here or active but thought it reasonable to let the forum know.    if you have any photos or pictures it would be great if you could share them.    it took me a while to work out he was active on here.    thanks so much
