Guys,

I am pulling out my RB26 from my 32gtr,

I dont plan on taking the gearbox out with the engine so i must disconnect the bell housing from the block whilst in the engine bay.

I cant seem to see how i am giong to get the top 2 bolts out with a standard spanner or rachet as their is not enough room. What tools are recommend?

Also i assume that i must take off the right hand side wheel assembly to get the axel out of the diff?

Other than that the engine is ready to come out.

Thanks for your help guys.

Keith

I will take pics if it helps.

When i took my R32 GTR gearbox out, I used two 500mm extensions and a universal joint to undo the top bolts from underneath the car. I wrapped some electrical tape around the uni joint to stop it from flopping down, but still be flexible. You end up using a breaker bar near the end of the gearbox.

yeah like mrkotter said about 4 extension bars and a uni are the best, go along the top of the gearbox right to the back of it and get a volutneer from the audience to guide it on.

You can make it *heaps* easier by lowering the subframe bolts - undo the bolts until there is not thread showing though the nut, it is still safe/tight but you will get an extra 2cm to work with up top.

To get the driveshaft out undo the lower control arm at the ball joint. Can be a pig to get back in though
