Hey guys going to buy my first skyline in a few weeks time.

Theres a shipment of a handful of R33's on its way to perth. So far iv narrowed it down to a 95 Series 1 model.

This is purely the money decision as i believe there is almost no mechanical differences between a Series 1 and 2? From what iv heard and seen there is only a few interior changes and a slight change in the mold shape of the car itself.

A Series 1 going for approx $16,990

A Series 2 going for approx $21,990

so u can see why iv chosen to look towards a Series 1 model because of the price when i hear it has no change to the motor itself?

could i plz get some feedback from those R33 Series 1 and 2 drivers plz as i later plan to customise the car myself in the future. That would include custom body paint, custom interior trims, boots etc.

let me know if u need some extra info about what im trying to seek.

look forward to hearing back soon ;)

those are some pretty high prices i picked up my series 2 for 16k fully stock but with engine compression of 160 even across all 6. For 20k you would be looking at a fairly modified sII and for 16k it would be a fairly modded s1. Difference between the two: series 2 has newer interior 2 airbags and a turbo which boosts quicker and umm a new steering wheel.

have a look in the for sale section on here you will find something with a few goodies for 16k

there are plenty of 33's for sale. no need to import.

i'd suggest buying one that has wheels, suspension, exhaust, and other basic mods already done. it'll save you a load of cash, as these kind of mods dont really hold their value at sale time.

i'd be going for the latest model you can get in your budget.

series 2's spooling quicker seems to be all theory in my experience. mainly because they both spool quickly anyway, at stock/mild specs.

Yeah, there are plenty around... but you generally pay more, well that was the case when I bought mine. I found I saved a heap of money doing it that way. Just gotta be prepared to wait for it to arrive... which is the hardest part ;)

that may have been the case some time ago, but the market is flooded with them now.

seller's cant sell, and their prices have dropped dramatically.

True that! i pretty much had to give my r33 s1 away. i lost $5k on the f**ker on the 12 months i owned it.

I've had mine for almost two years... I don't plan on selling it for a long time but I could sell it today and not lose anything on it because I didn't pay as much when I imported it.

You can pick up a Series II for something like $13,000.00 if you import. It's another option that's all... a cheaper one.

buy my car it's a series 2 and a 1997 one at that + it's black which is sexy :D

even if you don't buy mine i would still get a series 2

- they are newer

- dual airbags

- better bodykit

- better interior

Cheers Leigh

Cool. I forgot to add when i purchase a car from this place they chuck on Brand new tyres, I get a choice from a range of rims to put on, Brand new exhaust system, booster, etc etc. sorry forgot to mention they dont sell them very standard hehe. so they do come with abit of gear :) just not the big stuff like Intercooler kits etc.

They will have full body kit as well.. all for 16,990.. does that sound a little bit better? im basically trying to get my moneys worth when buying one :(

There is a few extras they chuck on but yea. Includes all onroad costs .

At the risk of repeating what others are trying to tell you. The price is too dear.

I bought a series 1 from the forum classifieds for way less than that with basic mods and a genuine unraped car.

If i were in your shoes i would look closely through the classifieds and see just what you can get for that sort of money. I think you could actually buy one from the eastern states, Fly over, drive it back and still save money.
