Hotwire,

The times I have been pulled over and defected in previous cars (when I was in my late teens) its was always on a fri/sat night cruising with the 'boys' lol or driving home late at night from work.

Cruising around normally a-b you have pretty bad luck to be defected; unless you have a little bit of a history and your name flashes up when they do a plate check.

Yeah I think its a load of Bull sometimes. I too have been a victim. On way home from work n there was a unmarked car at this cross intersection. I didn't notice him there at the time and just turned right and was heading home. He races up to me and stops me. The second i got outta my car he started with the attitude talking real rude to me. At this stage i never even opened my mouth.

He claims that my car didn't roll (body roll) much when i turned the corner back there. Someone must have forgotten to tell me that its far safer for your car to be rolling all over the place. :)

Ne ways he starts pushing on my car saying its too stiff blah blah blah. This car has passed RWC twice with this suspension and i asked about it at the time n they recon its all legal.

Unfortunately a exhaust rubber was buggered and the pipe was sagging down a bit so claims car is "too low". Didn't notice that this happened so my problem.

As i just got he car a month ago it only really just had "legal" tread left at the time of purchase so i was looking at having to get new ones soon after.

As i was a bit strapped for cast after the purchase of the car i had to wait a couple of pays to afford the new bags. I had been around and got all my quotes on tires and was 2 days off having the money.

This officer just goes "your tires are too low on tread". I then tell him that i am buying new tires in 2 days n showed him all the prices n quotes that i had gotten. He just says " i dont give a shit about that".

So yeah just another one of the nice police members that i have encountered.

PS i never broke any laws when i was driving at the time n i have no previous record. Clearly seems that if they want ur ass your outta luck.

Yeah thats true. I can't really argue that. The other two things that he pinged me for where a bit of BS i think. You recon that if someone had no record and was driving sensible and was giving no reason to get pulled up, that they might be a little easy on ya.

The thing that annoys me is that he gives me out $400 worth of fines for everything.

My mate gets caught for speeding and only gets $200 odd bucks. Dont think i quite understand how that works.

Would have been cheaper for me IF i was breaking the law.

Simple. Cop explained to me when i got defected its actually illegal to drive an unroadworthy vehicle hence they can issue u with a fine as well as the defect notice.

Mr nice policeman told me because i was nice he chose to wave the $180 odd or something fine so i got away with just the defect.

Once again comes down to a) who pulls you over, and b) the mood they are in.

i was pulled into a bretho a year or so ago near my gfs house, was in my magna and was defected for a snapped off exhaust tip

a VK bombadore with obvious chopped springs was infront of me with 4 dudes hanging out the windows, they were free to go.

cop was an absoloute ARSEHOLE, told him he could suck a golf ball through a garden hose and got a warning for police harrasment or something...cant remember. I would have been nice if he was. Bit harsh it seemed, cost me a little but i guess it was justified...

Just talking to a mates dad who is a ex cop and he was saying a cop must hand out 50 fines a year and now its gone up 20%

thats rather silly there ment to protect and serve i know rather cliche but thats there job not making money law and order was never ment to be a money making business

haha on this topic.. got pulled over yesterday on the cruise as most know. Cop was really good, went over my car, pointed out a few things, i challenged him on one of them, being how my plates sit and he didnt seem to know what to say. In the end said he was too busy and had too much to do to defect me and let me go.

New cops are the worst i think, power hungry. Older cops dont seem to care so much.

The cop who defected me said to me "why would you wanna drive that piece of shit anyway" ...as if i didnt feel bad enough that my car just got stickered. Despite what they all say, its all about revenue.. was in the paper last week how many "unsafe cars" they've taken off the road. If they wanted to get unsafe cars, they would target old rust buckets and not imports and modified cars.

Grrr, makes me soo mad

Old cop on a bike pulled up next to me on the way home from work once at 11pm and said "If i hadnt just worked an 11 hour shift i would defect you for a bov. The light then turned green and he pulled from my drivers side in a right hand turning lane at the lights off into my lane through the intersection and took off up the road.

Note my car has always had the std item fitted. Ignorance plays a big part in what they do these days. Unsafe to them could mean anything from rustbuckets to overpowered cars with streetboy racers as drivers. Going by the amount of ppl on here who tell of mishaps because they were (*insert random crash story here) i cant blame them.

More to the point :

Transformers-Barricade_TOP.jpg

(yes i just saw the movie and yes it is awesome)

I have had a cop let me off, saying he is not a traffic cop and didn't really care.

But other cops can just be assholes on power trips.

You have to take the good with the bad. OR just join them.

but just remember guys its not revenue raising.....

care to elaborate to me what you are talking about?

Steve also, 50 a year... I agree with you the cops shouldnt have a quota to meet, its just ridiculous that they actually are REQUIRED to hand out a fine no matter what. I believe that there shouldnt be any quota at all. This forces them to target the red stovetops. The most recognizeable lights, this is why we are burdened.

If it is there way of keeping "streetboy racers" off the road, then they should really just put up more undercovers to catch them in the act instead of going after the easier "defect"

But some cops just like intimadating people(bully's as someone else said before)... I was cruising with another 31 one day, and a cop started following us for about a kilometre, he eventually got next to me at the lights and told me my tail light was out. Lights went green, he looked over at me, and did a u turn and kicked the car out sideways as if to say, "i can do this shit and you cant".

Pulled into a servo and tail light was fine...

its a sad fact! but unfortunately not really much we can do about it.

but ive heard this as well. something about cops have to meet quotas or esle they are get into trouble. i guess these days the police business is not about catching the crims and serving the community but more becoming about meeting "quotas".

definitely, a revenue-raising operation.

I was followed for several kms up South Road happy valley last night, at 8.40pm (after my psychology 3hr session, lol), cop car in slow lane out of the 3 lanes, I was behind him just doing 70, he kept slowwwwing right down and started to hinder my progress, so bugga that I went into the middle lane and proceeded to go around him at my constant 70 speed (in 80zone), he tailed up quickly behind me and followed for a fair period, obviously doing a check on my plates and details etc. Seeing Ive got nothing to hide, and a Stagea wagon doesnt exactly stand out, he lost interest eventually. Was fairly sure I was going to be pulled over tho at the time, made sure I was under the limit and driving safe as per the norm. Meh.
