Sunroofs will not make any noticeable impact on performance or handling. The biggest factor is the weight; which is pretty minimal anyway.

In most cases a sunroof is too small to require any significant additional reinforcements to the body or roof structure.

i was quoted around $1300 for one in my r33 s2

cant remember the place though.

Yeah, thanks mate!! I've had similiar quotes too - all ranging from $1,200 to about $2,000 depending on the place and the sunroof type/model.

Cheers,

  • 2 weeks later...

I had my r33 done at that place.

was near $1g.

no leaks. no rust probs and i know the new owner and the car is always out in the weather and no probs.

considering doing it to my new ride. Try and get a discount on 2 or 3 sunroofs.

the one i had popped and then went sliding over the roof like RX7's.

Personally....i like it better then the factory r33 ones because its about half a factory sunroof bigger. looks hot when its open complete and over the roof. Never felt any handling differences. Only stereo wise but thats because my sub box was created custom in the boot and when the roof was open it worked like a port....but thats it.

But thats my opinion.

Thanks fellas - a lot of great opions, experiences and locations to try out...

I'll be looking into this quote soon.

Will post pics etc and let you guys know how I go.

Thanks agian.

I asked about this a while ago, didn't get much of a response.

The Hollandia 700 looks awesome, probably very pricey though. Did you end up getting those pics?

I think sunroof model skylines have extra reinforcements around the sunroof. I've also heard that these reinforcements are installed with most good custom sunroofs so it should all be sweet?

My R34 has a sunroof fitted into it, and after my first wash, i noticed the back seats were wet!

Im not exactly sure if its becuase of this? or could it be the doors or something. Anyways i might take it to the service place and get it checked out.

hey all,

I went and spoke to the sunroof centre today and there are 2 models I can get cheap.

one for under $1g and one for just over $1g.

all depends on how many I want then I can get a final price if anyone in Melbourne is interested.

get back to me asap as I will need to get back to him by thursday this week on number. PLease oly respond if you are 100% though.

there are the Hollandia 300.

the one under 1g is the older model which he only has a few of. the difference is the blind. the older one has a clip on style blind while the other has a built in blind.

Just for ppls interest it will not be anything more then $1200 install for the newer one. The older will be $900 install max. both prices will go down for sure if I get a few getting done at once.

Can also get insurance approved alarms installed from the same place. Price for a single is $450.00. Less again if we have a few and even lesser if we have ppl wanting sunroof and alarm combos like myself.

thanks

hmm.

did u find out about what they do to keep structural integrity? are there supports/braces etc added?

I am interested, but i'm a bit worried about leaks etc.. and i kinda wanted it to open inside like a factory roof. plus it is quite a bit of money.

i also have an alarm sitting here which needs installing, so if the price is right i could get them both done i guess.

if you like...give sunroof centre a call and find out a price. then say you know someone wanting:

- sunroof (opt 1 = $899. opt 2 = $1150)

- Mongoose M80S alarm ($450.00)

- front 2 windows tinted ($80.00 the pair)

and see what he can work out. the prices I have put up are walk of the street single item prices. nothing combined.

If I dont get anyone else interested by thursday im booking my car in at least for the sunroof and front window tint.

thanks
