i have this in my 93 33gtst

its DEFINATELY the coils (have checked them)

with non restrictor plugs gapped to 0.6 and a power fc the problem is gone... although i dont spose a $1500 ecu is a cheap fix!

either way spitfore coils comming next :(

try 30 degrees static timing(but dont run it too hard until u know its not pinging) then u will ave the same problem fix as me.the only thing that has cured my problem is to wind up the advance(doesnt sound like it pinging at all).......I hope

any ideas on that?( i thought too high preasure for spark?) @10 psi :)

Ok guys bit of an update, still havent got my coilpacks yet $$$ none of it, i have now got my fmic, SAFC, walbro fuelpump, boost controller, running 12psi, boost gauge, 3inch stainless turbo back zorst, car is more power full yes, but hesitation is still there alot more now no jerk feeling just car feels like a slug between 4500 -6000 rpm, i was kinda hoping a tune into the Safc would fix the problem but no luck it even shows up on my dyno sheet lols, i will be investing in splitfires very very soon like maybe 2 weeks, ill post back with the result wish me luck guys please :(

yup, more than likely, i dont want to but buying splitfires from sliding performance, in doing this im ill have no money for a bout a month, but then at least its done :) and i can concentrate on actually driving my car instead of constantly worring about missing, i hopefully will have them by tuesday next week if sliding performance can send them out for that date, $525 delivered in 2-3 days is not to bad i think, considering nengun takes about 3-4 weeks when u buy them for $480 there, im willing to spend that extra to have them now :)

But what if it doesnt fix the problem :)

yeh mine are coppers already and gapped at .8mm, im not going to be gapping them down anymore unless the splitfires dont complete the job, im sure they will though, damn i hate having no money since i have had this car, tis very fun though

ok guys bit of an update, i recieved my coils in mail today but im at work so i cant fit them until like 10 tonight should only take me about 30 mins or so to fit, i will take my car for a drive once there in hopefully prey to god it fixes the hesitation and my car will pull harder then ever before, but i wont be able to tell if my boost is spiking :D might have to turn it down a tad to like 10psi see how cold it is tonight, anyways ill let you all know late tonight and this thread can be a great help to majority or 33 owners with same problems :P

Sounds EXACTLY like the problem I am having. I'd love to here if the splitfires actually fix the problem. So thanks for the thread updates so far :D

Missing at 4500rpm, but not consistent. Happens more in lower gears than higher. Big affect on power, runs perfectly at lower rpm.

I have R34 SMIC, 10psi, 3" from turbo. Have cleaned and regapped plugs 0.9mm, checked coils (look perfect), new fuel filter.

Will be fitting walbro pump, copper plugs 0.9mm, clean AFM, SAFC 2. But I'm not confident it will fix it. I think it is coils too - but rather not spend over $500 if it's not.

As Sydneykid stated in other posts he beleives it's much more likely a running rich problem, not coils. How are you AFRs around this rpm point? Since you have dyno chart, what are AFR like?

ok guys split fires are in and today was dry so i could test them a bit, hesitation is gorne still most probably going to try feel for it some more, cuz im not completlt convinced it has gorne, just curious if any one else with r33 gtst s1 at about 6000rpm car seems to pick up a little more? but definetly feels like its gorne, split fires did the job guys as far as i can feel :( most probably recommend .7mm coppers and splitfires fixes problem properly

have fun

ill post back if i notice change

    • Yes, but 2 things of the top of my head, 1. Legalities of nitrous on a street car. 2. No chop chop. I fully understand that there's much cheaper ways to make power, and whilst a wet 50 shot is fairly cheap to install, bottle fills are expensive, and bottles always need to be refilled, and nitrous also has its own inherent issues with reliability, and tuning, from my experience of others using nitrous, it doesn't take alot to lunch a engine real quick if something goes slightly wrong when spraying, if I wanted a big chunk of additional powers, a spooly boy would make alot more sense, disregarding the additional engineering, supporting mods and other logistical issues of sticking a spooly boy on a car that came naturally aspirated from factory  In the end I'm not racing for sheep stations, and I don't really care if people make more power, or are faster than me, or spend less, or more than me, the only thing the car needs to do is drive around and make me smile, which it is doing now Really, I just want a shiny new intake to look at when I'm cleaning the engine bay, and of course, some more induction doorts, and maybe even that 5kw for that elusive 200hp cherry on top that I might get If the FAB9 intake plenum, TB and air filter box thing doesn't eventuate for whatever reason, Plasmaman do one, not as fancy looking, and a fair chunk of more cash is required when including the TB and other bits and pieces that are required to install it, but, it is another option that is available to me if FAB9 one does fall down (but I really, really.....really, want the FAB9 one though) TL;DR. You want what you want
    • Been so long since I have been here, seeing SDU is dead. I had that problem on my gtr in 2006 but luckily there was no engine damage,it was inspected by Hytech Engines, race bearings and extended crank collar put in and that was about it. Hopefully yours is sorted now.
    • Would it not be cheaper to just spray nitrous?
