I have no problem recommending BD4s at Gladesville. I have used Paul for a couple of years now, and couldnt see myslef going anywhere else.

I have never been to Croydon so cant offer any comment, Peter at Advan has been helpful when i have enquired about Trust parts.

But for peace of mind i continue to let BD4s do the spanner work that is beyond me, or im too lazy to do.

I second Hills Motorsports. I will never take my car elsewhere unless it's for something they can't do (which isn't likely coz they seem to be able to do anything).

I know Croydon are good, but they charge like a wounded bull and they tend to ignore you a lot so they can focus on their big money spinners (ie, big hp guys with lots of cash to throw around).

Here are some reasons I like Hills:

1. They did some magic on my front-facing plenum. It was a home-made job and so didn't fit right, so they had to do a lot of work getting it to fit right. If I ever sell it, it'll have to be sold with the manifold attached or else the new owner will have to go through the same stuff again getting it to fit.

2. They bought the wrong intercooler for me, so they gave it to me at cost price. It was a better one than they originally quoted, and it ended up being around $100 extra. (so true price difference would probably be closer to $200).

3. Because of the cooler price difference, the extra hour or so they had to spend on the plenum, and the $80 throttle cable they had to buy (the original didn't reach), and the mesh that one of the guys convinced me to get, the final price was around $400 more than they originally quoted. I didn't have the extra money, so they let me pay it a couple of weeks later.

NOTE: The guy that gave me the original quote got into a LOT of trouble from Mark for not pointing out the variables (like potential extra labour, the throttle cable, plus the fact that he talked me into buying the mesh) and ordering the wrong cooler, and he said that they don't ordinarily let people pay them back later. It was only because so much of it was one of the one guy's fault of bad quoting/cooler ordering that they let me do this. I definitely WOULDN'T expect them to let me do this again, and I even said that next time I'll make sure I have a couple of hundred extra bucks handy for any future work they do to avoid hassles on both our parts.

4. By the time I came around to pay them, they had sold my old intercooler for me for $300, so I was only around $100 extra out of pocket and I didn't have the hassle of people coming around to look at it.

      Ha ha ha, mine loves to spend, all on the dogs (they're our kids, and her spending would likely rival that of some people raising children!) the only benefit is, her spending is tax deductible as she runs a business in the dog industry 😛 The above all means she can spend race car budget quicker than I can. 😛 That and a lot of the things I want are very expensive, and I can be a bit "you want how much for that?!" And at other times overly impulsive. Or I start the w days of research, get to day 1.5 and get really annoyed that no one will advertise actual specifics and it's just marketting BS and I go "well, now I don't want anything to do with that now!" Also I hate paying lots of money for something I can make from $50 in materials. Then I get the shits halfway through making things and wonder why others who just buy parts have more fun... 😛

      Their 240Z with the RB26 would be a real nice thing to have in a garage to come out for an occasional weekend cruise It's such a cool thing in so many ways Sadly, we have a blue 240Z shell that I walk past every day, just sitting outside a shed at work, it has been slowly disintegrating and falling apart into the ground for the last few years, the owner cannot be found, and I am unable to "claim it" I've been told by work and the RMS, the rust in the body is excessive though, and it has had most of the salvageable stuff, like panels, trim and switch gear stripped off it over the last year or two, work keeps threatening to put it in one of our metal scrap bins, I wish they did though, as it makes Mark sad walking past it

      Good tips, I like it! 😂😂 My wife is a LOT more frugal than me so it's only me we need to worry about! A splurge to her is buying 2 pairs of socks in one visit at Kmart!

      Haha, the appropriate response to the question "Is this new?" is "I've had this for a while.". With the unspoken small print that a while may be the time since this morning or five years ago   And to be fair I learned that from the best, i.e. my wife. Because it goes both ways.

      Yeah kids certainly add a whole another dimension to your life.  Life ceases to be about you and more about them for a while!  And I wouldn't have it any other way.  I love watching them play sport and make new friends along the way. Wow, sounds like your mate is a good guy to know!!!  He's got some serious toys in the toy box!  Yes it would be lovely to be able to do stuff to your car without getting all tied up in boring shit like how to pay for it!!  I would describe my spending style as "aggressively spontaneous and logical but regrettable purchasing"....  That will hopefully make no sense at all which would be appropriate given that is how I buy stuff.  I'll decide at the drop of a hat that I'm buying something expensive, research the living shit out of it for 2 days straight then go out and buy it.  Then I'll have instant buyers remorse for 2 days which generally passes by the time it turns up on the front step!  If I'm feeling ballsy sometimes I'll tell my wife.  Other times it just makes its way silently passed the house and out the back to the shed, never to be spoken of again...
