Lap Timing Equipment

What lap timing equipment are you guys using? Where did you get it from and how much did it set you back.

I'm looking at a "Hot Lap" timing setup. Looking for other options.

I use an intercomp lap timer which is expensive and not super reliable. Bought it a few years back before there were better options. Cost me $650

If you want cheap get any infrared style one (like the intercomp) they start at around $300 these days. UAS (www.nismo.com.au) had some nice cheap ones.

If you want good, there are GPS based logging units like from http://www.race-technology.com/dl1_2_27.html they are more expensive but use GPS for accurate lap times, data traces etc.

Sorry to hijack the thread but does lap-timing equipment automatically start and stop at the end of each lap or do you have to click a button each time you go past the start/finish line??

Yeah they use an infrared beacon that you put by the side of the track. There is a receiver in the car that counts the between signals

I know a lot of us use the Mychron Light TG. Can be purchased through John @ UAS. It's a great little system.
